Emma Stone Insults Taylor Swift At Golden Globes Amid Travis Kelce Controversy

Taylor has raised eyebrows by not bringing Travis with her to the Golden Globes, but that didn’t stop her from supporting her close friend.

Taylor Swift may not have won at the Golden Globes, but that didn’t stop her from supporting her friend Emma Stone’s big win, though the actress had a surprising response to the singer’s support.

It wasn’t surprising Taylor attended the awards show given that her record-breaking film Eras Tour was nominated in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. Ultimately, however, she lost to the billion-dollar box office hit Barbie.

Later in the evening, cameras captured Taylor giving an enthusiastic applause and standing ovation for Emma following her win. When Emma was later asked how she felt about Taylor’s reaction, she said with sarcasm, “What an asshole, am I right?”

“I’ve known her for almost 20 years, so I’m very happy she was there,” Emma continued. “She was also nominated tonight, so I’m very happy she was there — but what an asshole.”

Emma took home the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for playing Bella in Poor Things.

Why Travis Kelce Didn’t Attend Golden Globes With Taylor

Taylor’s support for her friends wasn’t the only notable moment about her night. Her boyfriend Travis Kelce didn’t attend. Rather, she took her friend Keleigh Teller (the wife of Miles Teller) as her date.

However, this shouldn’t necessarily be taken as an indication of trouble in paradise. One report says Travis skipped the awards show due to his own work obligations. While Taylor was at the show, Travis was on the sidelines of the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers, which they won with only a single point lead.

It was suspected that Travis may choose the Golden Globes if he was benched, which was so to prevent injury ahead of next week’s playoffs. Several other high-profile players like Patrick Mahomes and Rashee Rice were also benched. Nevertheless, Travis clearly felt the need to be there in-person to support his team, even if Taylor was elsewhere.

Travis has been vocal about how much he appreciates Taylor’s support of his career. Reports say the couple both try to respect each other’s careers, despite how demanding their schedules are. Moreover, though they only debuted their romance in the summer, Travis and Taylor have been dodging engagement rumors for months.

“It’s quickly turning more serious. They share a strong work ethic and have a huge appreciation for life and their careers, strong family bond and values,” a source told PEOPLE.

“Taylor and Travis are on the same page and have a lot in common,” an insider similarly shared to Entertainment Tonight“Both are extremely close to their families and share morals and views on a lot of things.”

Taylor and Travis blended their families to spend the holidays togethers, so even if they’re spending the start of the new year separately, things seem to be going better than ever between the couple.
