It was last year that LeBron James proclaimed the last of his professional goals – he wanted to play with his elder son – Bronny James.

At that time things looked positive.

The 19-year-old was a McDonald’s All-American, a four-star recruit, and would eventually commit to USC.

Then a major accident would put doubt on all those dreams and visions. Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest during a college practice.

The James family immediately shifted their attention to assuring he recovers. Basketball became second priority.

In that sense, the elder son of James has been remarkable. Bronny James made a full recovery and is participating in the current season for the Trojans.

Equip with Isiah Collier, the consensus number-one pick for the upcoming draft, the Pac-12 team were aspired to be one of the best teams. Sadly, that’s not been the reality

Additionally, Bronny James hasn’t had a freshman year which is indicative of his capability of playing in the biggest basketball league on Earth.

LeBron James might have to wait longer if he wants to play with Bronny James

The Trojans, who have a distasteful 10-16 record suffered the most humiliating loss of their season.

They were up 16 with just under ten minutes to go against the Colorado. Bronny James had his highlight, a freakish and-one play to give the Trojans the cushion.

However, they would crumble in the closing minutes. Eventually, it led to a double overtime loss.

The game-tying bucket came on James, who was subbed in for Collier for his renowned defense.

Yet Colorado’s K.J. Simpson got a step on him and finished the play with a dunk to tie the game. It was the last of Bronny for the night, who only played 14 minutes.

Despite the demoralizing defeat, USC’s coach Andy Enfield praised the teenager. “He’s done a good job. He’s improved. We just went with our veterans down the stretch, but he has continued to improve as a player,”. he told The Athletic.

Concurrently it also revealed that the elder son of LeBron James wasn’t ready for the NBA. He has averaged only 5.7 points in his first season in college basketball. His career high is 11.

That being said it’s not that Bronny James can’t be an NBA player. It wouldn’t be the first time we see a player embrace multiple years of college to polish their games.

James, if realizes his full potential, has the combination of gifts to be an NBA talent. But not for the upcoming 2024 draft. He is yet to make a decision.

In a recent interview, LeBron James said the call lies completely on the 19-year-old with no persuasion from anyone. Given his inability to still play at his best, it might be best to have another year of college basketball and train to accent his game.
