Simon Cowell has revealed that he wants to mastermind a Spice Girls reunion.

The 63-year-old spoke after the season finale of America’s Got Talent on Tuesday about what the future might hold for the iconic girl group.

He argued that ‘best girl band of all time’ before adding that co-judge Mel B ‘was a big part of their success.’

The group – which also featured Mel C, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham and Emma Bunton –  sold more than 100 million albums worldwide but were engulfed in rumors about infighting after they broke up in 2000.

Speaking after the show, Simon discussed Mel B’s explosive return after she poured a glass of water over him midway through the broadcast.

Asked about her explosive antics, he said: ‘Well, you know what Mel’s like she’s very unpredictable, very competitive.

‘But that was part of the reason why I was excited that she was going to come on the show.’

With Sofia unavailable, he revealed: ‘When we spoke about who would be the best fourth judge, everyone said Mel. She’s a lot of fun and she’s really smart.

‘She did such a great job with the Spice Girls and you know, you don’t know what to expect with her. So, it’s going to be interesting.’

The conversation then turned to whether there was a potential Spice Girls reunion in the works, to which Simon responded: ‘Yeah that would be all right!

‘I love that group. For me, I think they were arguably the best girl band of all time, and Mel was a big part of their success.

‘Like I said, she’s really, really smart and off-camera. She is a great person. Really, really, really nice. But she’s also funny and unpredictable. And that’s what makes her fun to work with.’

The last time the iconic pop group took to the stage as a five-piece band was at the 2012 London Olympics.

The 2019 Spice Girls reunion was then as a four-person group made up of Sporty, Ginger and Baby and Scary Spice, leaving many fans disappointed.

However, Mel B recently teased that this won’t be the case for their next project but kept quiet on what their big plans are.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Mel B said: ‘We are doing something together as the Spice Girls and it has always been me kind of championing everybody together.

‘But this time it was actually Victoria that was saying, “come on, let’s all do something.” So we have got something in the works, which will be announced soon.’

She added: ‘It is about f***ing time.’

But Simon could be set for an uphill battle after previously clashing with the popstar.

In 2017, the music mogul took a dig at the singer during an episode of The X Factor after claiming he rejected one hopeful contestant who ‘sounded like Victoria.’

More recently, amid the pandemic, Simon led the backlash against stars relying on taxpayer’s cash to bailout their businesses – which included Posh Spice.

He called for famous faces to ‘rise to this enormous challenge’ to use resources available to help out staff in the face of the coronavirus crisis.

The stars rose to fame in the late 90s and scored massive success with hits including Wannabe and 2 Become 1, selling 100 million albums worldwide.

While rumors swirled about various group members fighting after they broke up in 2000, Emma, 46, recently revealed that they will always have an incredible bond.

Speaking to MailOnline in December 2022, she said: ‘Nobody else will ever understand that relationship between us.

‘We’ve been through so much and we still go through so much, from children to work. There’s a bond there and it’s very, very strong.’

After they initially broke up in 2000, they reunited seven years later for a tour and released the track Headlines (Friendship Never Ends).
