Simon Cowell said he was left momentarily ‘speechless’ after watching 17-year-old blind singer-songwriter from Indonesia Putri Ariani wow the crowd with her amazing voice on Tuesday’s two-hour America’s Got Talent live show on NBC.
‘I’m actually kind of speechless right now,’ Simon, 63, said after Putri stunned the audience with her angelic and piercing voice singing U2’s song I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. ‘Look, what I was thinking was first of all, what a beautiful voice you have got.’
Simon told Putri, who was dressed in sequins and had been his Golden Buzzer winner, that people like her were the reason he still did the show.
‘Honestly Putri, this is why I still do this job for moments like this, genuinely,’ Simon said. ‘Because that was so beautiful. And I want to thank U2 because they don’t clear their songs, I understand a lot of bands don’t clear their songs. But they cleared this song for Putri to sing because they saw her audition and they knew how much this would mean to her and I cannot thank you enough because I think you hopefully changed this girl’s life.’
Sofia Vergara ,51, also said her performance was ‘spectacular.’

‘You sounded so beautiful,’ Heidi Klum, 50, said. ‘ I thought to myself this is probably what it sounds like when an angel is singing, literally. So beautiful. And I do hope that Bono gets to hear this.’
Warrior Squad, an acrobatic act from India, kicked off the live show with a 25-foot high jump determined to make it to the finale. The group of gymnasts stunned the crown dressed in white with their high flying jumps and intricate human pyramids. The judges gave them a standing ovation.
‘It’s like a human fountain,’ Judge Howie Mandel, 67, said. ‘It’s beautiful. It’s scary. It’s original!’
‘You guys are insane what you do,’ Heidi said.
Magician Trigg Watson, from Los Angeles, went next. He appeared on the stage in the middle of a hologram. He used technology as part of his act. He had Heidi draw a picture of her wedding to Tom Kaulitz and sign it. He then handed it to his friend through a television and then turned the television screen into a poster.
‘I guess we can all agree that I was the best part of this act,’ Heidi joked. ‘ You also were pretty special.’
‘That was something again that I have never seen before on this stage,’ Sofia said.
Simon told him that his presentation was a ‘bit annoying.’
‘However it was clever,’ Simon said.

Singer Summer Rios, 19, from Brunswick, Ohio who makes pizza for a living was nervous before she took the state. She sang Zoe Wees hit song Control and when she finished the crowd cheered.
‘Summer that was so beautiful,’ Sofia said. ‘What I love about you is your personality.’
Simon said he felt her performance felt over produced.
‘I like the song, I didn’t love the song, but I really, really like you,’ Simon said.
Phil Wright and The Parent Jam, which started in a small studio in Los Angeles, took over the stage dancing to Boyz II Men and Salt-N-Pepa’s hit song Push It. The group has the parents dance along with their children with both of them wearing matching outfits. Howie wasn’t impressed and pushed his buzzer.
‘I really, really like this act,’ Simon said. ‘I really love their idea.’
Howie said it was a great franchise dance idea but not a million dollar act in Vegas.
‘It’s nothing anybody is going to buy tickets to,’ Howie said. ‘But I will take my kids to it.’
‘It was the feel good act of the night,’ Sofia said.
Philip Bowen, a violin musician from the Appalachian mountains in Montgomery, West Virginia, played his heart out to try to make it to the finals. He even got the crowd revved up with his 100-year fiddle. He shared that he had lost 50 lbs since he auditioned.
‘Everybody’s on their feet,’ Howie said when he finished. ‘I know this is a family show but people love watching a man fiddle with himself.’
‘You have something special about you because you give more than 100%,’ Heidi said. ‘Good luck to you.’
‘It is every parent’s nightmare when the child says ‘I want to play the violin,’ Simon said. ‘And actually you made it entertaining. It was a really good choice of song.’
Audience Golden Buzzer winners Mzansi Youth Choir from South Africa, who performed former contestant Nightbirde’s original song for their audition after she passed away from cancer at the age of 31, were excited when they heard that Nightbirde’s parents were in the audience. They sang Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac dressed in white as golden confetti fell down around them.
‘This was giving me all really good vibes coming from all of you,’ Heidi said. ‘It was a great song choice.’
‘I think we all got goosebumps, it was so beautiful,’ Sofia said.
‘I think this act is spectacular,’ Simon said.

Simon also thanked them for the beautiful tribute they had done for Nightbirde. Howie told them that he loved them.
Tap Dancer Justin Jackson from Montreal, Canada, worked extra hard to wow the judges and crowd. He brought in confetti and jump ropes to his solo act.
‘Justin you make something so difficult look so simple,’ Sofia said. ‘That’s what I love but I know what it takes. This was amazing.’
‘I’m not going to lie, I don’t find tap dancing very interesting, however you are very talented,’ Simon said. ‘You did a brilliant job, I got to tell you.’
Mos, an all female four member Japanese music group determined to bring back the big brass band music, took the stage next. The group all dressed in denim danced around the stage while playing their brass horns performing a cover of Sax by Fleur East. Simon was on his feet when they finished.
‘I just love this group, Terry, and I love this idea,’ Simon said. ‘I’ve never seen anything like this before. The chemistry, the fun, originality, again it’s very difficult with these instruments to be absolutely note perfect, but it doesn’t matter. I just love this act.’
‘They performed their brasses off,’ Howie joked.
Comedian Barry Brewer Jr. hoped he would be the first comedian to win the show. He made jokes about how he was in marriage counseling after he told his wife he wanted to be an eagle when she wanted to be lioness.

‘You’re likable and you’re a good story teller,’ Howie said.
Simon said he hoped he would have played music with his comedy act like he did in his audition. Heidi agreed.
Herwan Legaillard, a sword swallowing aerialist from Paris, France, went next. He swelled swords keeping it in his mouth as he did handstands and while he was suspended spinning around in the air. For his finale, he was lifted above the judges by one foot and hanging above them. The judges and the audience gave him a standing ovation.
‘I’m like speechless,’ Sofia said. ‘That was breathtaking. You are so handsome, talented, it was like a combination of so many things and you did them all well.’
‘I love you, Heidi said. ‘You are my favorite act of tonight. You are giving us circus couture. I really love that you are making all your costumes yourself.’
America’s Got Talent will return Wednesday on NBC.
