The Spice Girls – take a look at all the members of one of the biggest girl groups in the world and see where they are now.
There is absolutely no doubt that the Spice Girls are one of the most successful girl groups in history and even though their biggest hits are over 20 years old — they are still very popular.
Today’s list takes a look at the members of the Spice Girls back in the day, as well as now. How did Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham start their careers and where are the ladies now? Keep on scrolling to find out which of the Spice Girls has had the most success after the group went on hiatus in 2000!
10 Victoria Beckham Then
Kicking the list off is Victoria Beckham a.k.a. Posh Spice. At the time, when Victoria joined the Spice Girls, she was not married to professional football player David Beckham yet — which is why the singer is credited with her maiden name Victoria Adams in some of the Spice Girls’ first recordings.
As far as Victoria’s solo career goes, in 2000, she released her first solo single “Out of Your Mind,” but it’s safe to say that she found her true passion in fashion later on.
9 Victoria Beckham Now
Today, Victoria Beckham is the mother of four children (her eldest son Brooklyn got engaged recently) and a very successful fashion designer.
In the late 2000s, Victoria made the shift from music to fashion design by launching her own fashion label — which is simply called Victoria Beckham — and ever since then, Posh Spice had plenty of success with it. It’s safe to say that out of all the Spice Girls members, Victoria Beckham is the most fashionable one!
8 Mel B Then
Next on the list is Mel B aka Scary Spice. In 1994, Melanie Brown responded to an advertisement in The Stage magazine for a girl group and the rest is pretty much history. Just like her former bandmate, Victoria Beckham, Mel B also attempted to have success as a solo artist — however, most of her singles charted poorly.
In the 2000s, Mel B also dabbled into acting with minor roles, in movies such as The Seat Filler and Love Thy Neighbor.
7 Mel B Now
Nowadays it’s evident that Mel B has given up on her Hollywood career, but she is still loyal to her first love — music.
Those who may be too young to remember Mel B as a member of the Spice Girls probably know the singer as a judge on plenty of popular reality music competitions, such as The X Factor Australia, The X Factor UK, The Voice Kids: Australia, as well as America’s Got Talent. She may not be actively releasing music, but Mel B is still a name often heard.
6 Geri Halliwell Then
The next Spice Girl on the list is Geri Halliwell, also known as Ginger Spice. Just like Mel B, Mel C, and Victoria Beckham, Geri also responded to the advertisement in The Stage magazine in 1994.
In 1998, however, Geri was the first member who decided to leave the Spice Girls and she quickly kicked off her solo career. While Ginger Spice’s solo career may not have been internationally successful, her singles such as “Look at Me,” “Mi Chico Latino,” and “Lift Me Up” all ended up in the number one spot on the UK singles charts.
5 Geri Halliwell Now
Nowadays, Geri Halliwell — just like her fellow Spice Girl Mel B — is appearing as a judge on plenty of famous reality television shows, from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Australia’s Got Talent, and The X Factor.
It’s safe to say that Geri Halliwell still finds her way into the spotlight, even though the peak of her career may be behind her. However, out of all of the Spice Girls, Geri is the one that had a pretty successful solo career for a moment!
4 Mel C Then
Next on the list is Melanie C, also now as Sporty Spice. Melanie Chisholm also auditioned for the Spice Girls after seeing the advertisement and she was picked out of around 400 women for a spot in the iconic girl group.
After the Spice Girls decided to split, Mel C also pursued a solo career, which was quite successful, and her 2000 song “Never Be the Same Again,” which featured TLC member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, peaked on charts in plenty of countries across the globe.
3 Mel C Now
While Melanie C has also dabbled into acting over the years, she is definitely a Spice Girl who, with age, decided to take things slower.
Sporty Spice would occasionally be seen participating in different projects and reality television shows, however, she never committed to a long-term job the way Mel B and Geri Halliwell have with becoming judges on music competitions. One thing however remained the same over the years — Mel C is still a huge fan of rocking a sporty outfit!
2 Emma Bunton Then
The last Spice Girl girl on the list is Emma Bunton, also known as Baby Spice. Unlike the other four members who responded to an advertisement in The Stage magazine, Emma Bunton replaced another member who was dropped from the band due to her lack of commitment.
In 2001, after the Spice Girls decided to split, Emma released her solo album A Girl Like Me. While the singer had some initial success, it was soon evident that her solo career isn’t going to be as impressive as the one the Spice Girls previously had.
1 Emma Bunton Now
Just like most of the ladies on the list, Emma Bunton has also remained in the world of showbiz — however, most of her moments in the spotlight were either as a presenter or as a judge on a reality television show.
Most notably, Emma made an appearance on RuPaul‘s Drag Race All Stars, as well as Dancing on Ice. After taking a look at all of the Spice Girls members, it’s clear that Victoria Beckham is the only one who had an impressive career after the band went on hiatus.
