Seems like Drake was Too Good to Rihanna.
The 30-year-old singer admitted that her friendship with the 31-year-old Nice For What hitmaker ended when he declared his undying love for her in front millions while presenting her with an award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2016.
Rihanna made the revelation in her June cover issue for Vogue as she said: ‘The VMAs is such a fan-focused awards show, so having that energy around me, and knowing the people who had received the award in the past, made it feel like a big deal.’
Ouch: Rihanna said her friendship with Drake ended when he declared his undying love for her in front millions while presenting her with an award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards
The Barbadian beauty – full name Robyn Rihanna Fenty – was obviously not flattered by the loving declaration as she said it made her feel ‘uncomfortable’ because she has a hard time taking compliments.
Rihanna continued: ‘Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part. I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.’
The two had shared an on-off romance at the time and he was chosen to present her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award as they have collaborated together on several hit songs.
When asked about the status of her relationship with Drake now, she replied: ‘We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.’

Awkward: Drake went in for a kiss on the cheek as Rihanna deflected his lips which ended up with the rapper kissing her on the neck
During his award show speech in 2016 Drake admitted that: ‘She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22-years-old.’
It was such an intense moment that many fans even speculated on social media at the time that he was going to propose.
A bit of an awkward moment came when he seemingly went for a peck on the lips on stage but Rihanna gave him a peck on the cheek before the Canadian rapper continued to lean in and kiss her on the neck.
But the kiss didn’t last very long, as he pulled away after several seconds just before Rihanna said several words to him.

Drake – real name Aubrey Graham – met Rihanna at a Toronto restaurant named Avocado in 2005. She was in town to film her music video Pon de Replay.
He described his first encounter with her during the speech as he said he was ‘introduced to her as the kid who played background music as people ate their dinner.’
Four years later, they were spotted making out at a Lucky Strike bowling alley in New York in May 2009 just two months after she split from Chris Brown, which happened to be three months after he physically assaulted her on Grammys weekend.

Longtime lovers: Drake and Rihanna met in 2005 as they are pictured together in New York City back in September 2010
Drake and Rihanna seem to have an on/off romance for years – which includes some occasional drama and a rekindled romance with Brown for a period of time for the Diamonds hitmaker – leading to the unforgettable VMA moment.
The two have collaborated for several tracks together which all seem to be in the middle of their on/off relationship (some of which even seem to be about each other) including: 2010’s What’s My Name, 2011’s Take Care, 2016’s Work, and 2016’s Too Good.
The Disturbia hitmaker has since moved on and found love with Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel and, although she won’t address him by name so as not to confirm their relationship status, she has admitted she’s really ‘happy’ right now.
Flirty: The two often collaborated together as they are pictured performing at the Grammy Awards in February 2011
She explained: ‘I used to feel guilty about taking personal time, but I also think I never met someone who was worth it before.
‘Even mentally, just to be away from my phone, to be in the moment, that has been key for my growth. Now, when I come to work, I’m all in. Because before you know it, the years will go by. I’m glad I’m taking the time. I’m happy.’
And now that she’s reached the third decade of her life, Rihanna is starting to think about what life would be like with a child and how she expects to be as a mother.
She said: ‘OK, so now that I’m 30, are there things I’m supposed to do? Should I be worried? Should I be freezing my eggs? What do you do at 30?! I’m not gonna be able to take my eyes off my kid. I know that already about myself. They’re going to have to force me to hire a nanny.’

Rihanna can soon be seen starring alongside a star-studded female driven cast including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Olivia Munn, Awkwafina, Helena Bonham Carrter, Dakota Fanning, and Jamie King.
Ocean’s Eight hits theaters in the US on June 7 before a UK release on 22 June.
She’s proved she’s a force to be reckoned with outside the music world after launching her successful Fenty beauty brand.
After adding new strings to her ever-growing brand’s bow, Rihanna has turned her attention to dazzling the latest Vogue cover, where she discusses ‘fat’ days, freezing her eggs and finding ‘the one’.
The 30-year-old musical powerhouse, who is set to launch her debut lingerie collection later this year, didn’t hold back in the chat, speaking candidly about the pressure she comes under as a public figure.
