It’s so close to the big day that I can almost taste the assortment of gravied vegetables and turkey.
And what better way to celebrate the nearing of our festive season than to whip out one of the best classics in film history?
Obviously, I’m talking about the one and only Home Alone (we don’t walk about the 3rd instalment).
It’s the type of movie that never gets old and is a list topper for numerous film lovers across the world.

But while the movie is filled with enough excitement, some have turned to what’s has been going on with the main actor, Macaulay Culkin, who’s portrayal of Kevin McCallister has warmed hearts for years.
Though many viewers fell in love with this boisterous character, and especially his growth in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (seriously, how do you forget your kid twice, Catherine O’Hara?), they might not have known that Culkin went on the change his name to something pretty bizarre a few years ago.
The 43-year-old actor started a discussion on his website Bunny Ears in 2018 to disclose to fan that his ‘middle name is something dumb’ before asking people online to send in ideas of what he could change it to.

“My middle name is something dumb. Larry? Orange? Honestly, I can’t even remember it,” he wrote.
“So I asked you all to send in some better options so I can go down to the court house and explain to a judge why I need to change my middle name to something cool.”
Of course, there were so many weird and wonderful suggestions, to which Culkin narrowed down his top five– TheMcRibIsBack, Kieran, Shark Week, Publicity Stunt and Macaulay Culkin.
All of the above are hilarious, especially Kieran, as his brother Kieran Culkin may have found it seriously strange.
But the actor decided the fairest way to choose a new name would be to put it to a vote, which ran until Christmas Eve, so he could ‘wake up to a wonderful present from everyone’.
“Sure, I might have gold-plated watercraft, and chrome plated invisibility cloaks, but all I want for Christmas is a new middle name,” he joked.
And his wish was certainly granted.
On Christmas Day, Culkin went on to reveal on Twitter (now X) that his legal name would be changed to Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin.
“It has a nice ring to it (if you like my name),” he said.

But he wasn’t joking as the actor’s Wikipedia page even starts with the line ‘Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin’.
At the time, the tweet was one of the most widespread and subjects at the time, but it’s easy to forget it happened considering it was over five years ago.
And it was only last year that fans decided to pay a tribute to the hilarious memory, with one writing on X: “We’re watching Home Alone 2 and I just remembered that Macaulay Culkin changed his name to Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin.
“Magic.”
Another said: “Macaulay Culkin changing his name to Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin is HILARIOUS.”
And a third quipped: “I found out recently that Macaulay Culkin’s (Kevin from Home Alone) middle name is Macaulay Culkin and his name is Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin and I laugh about it regularly.”
