Angelina Jolie hints she’ll soon be quitting acting for good
Oscar-award-winning actor Angelina Jolie could soon be set to retire from Hollywood as she believes showbiz isn’t ‘healthy’.
The Maleficent star has stepped back from the limelight in recent years, with 2021’s Those Who Wish Me Dead and Eternals being her latest projects.
In a new interview, Jolie, 48, has discussed her future, opened up about her recent divorce from fellow actor Brad Pitt, and detailed thoughts on her upbringing.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, the mum-of-six alleged that her split from the Bullet Train star has made her ‘lose the ability’ to ‘live and travel’ freely.
“|It’s part of what happened after my divorce – I lost the ability to live and travel as freely,” she said.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, 59, seven years ago, and claimed that while the pair have been embroiled in the proceedings, the family has been ‘healing’ behind the scenes.
On the topic of Hollywood, the star said that if she was picking her career today, she wouldn’t choose to become an actor.
She told the publication: “I wouldn’t be an actress today. When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much.”
“Because I grew up around Hollywood, I was never very impressed with it,” she explained. “I never bought into it as significant or important.”
The Marvel actor also claimed that early on in her career she wanted to ‘escape’ from the limelight, and said that she no longer spends time socialising.
“I don’t really have…a social life,” she admitted to the publication.
Jolie also detailed plans to leave her life behind in Los Angeles as she wants to ‘spend more time’ at her home in Cambodia.
“I will move when I can,” she added.
Touching on the film industry, the 48-year-old claimed that it was a ‘shallow place’ to grow up: “Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.”
Despite wanting to exit Tinsletown, Jolie said that she just ‘can’t stop working’ on passion projects.
“I can’t stop,” she said. “I always think there’s like a fight coming.”
The statement comes as she is expected to open her first stand-alone fashion venture and sustainability store, Atelier Jolie.
Despite hinting that acting could be off the cards, the star has a number of projects in pre-and post-production, including Maleficent 3 and Kung Fu Panda 4.
Jolie will also star in the film adaptation of Lisa Genova’s contemporary romance novel, Every Note Played, alongside Christoph Waltz.
The multi-hyphenate has also been cast in Pablo Larrain’s Maria – a biographical film about iconic opera singer Maria Callas.
So while Jolie could be on the verge of hanging up her acting hat, fans still have plenty of time to get their fix.
