It won’t be wrong to call Bollywood sweethearts, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, the ‘IT’ couple of the Indian film industry. The couple, who tied the knot in an elaborate affair at Lake Como in Italy five years ago, met at the sets of their 2013 blockbuster, Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram Leela. Their love blossomed on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s take on Romeo and Juliet. While the couple didn’t find the eternal love onscreen, their love off the screen went on to inspire many others.

The power couple earlier this year announced that they are all set to welcome their first child. While Deepika and Ranveer have often shared how they’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders, here’s presenting six times Ranveer Singh was a doting husband to Deepika Padukone.

‘She’s the one’

Ranveer has often shared insights on how their love story came about. The couple dated for a year before Deepika said yes to Ranveer and the couple got engaged in a hush hush proposal. “Six months into the relationship, I knew she was the one. I nurtured the relationship accordingly. It’s been six years now. She’s too good, too lovely. She’s a force of nature. I understood that almost immediately,” the actor commented once.

He further went on, “I knew all too well that this is the woman I’m going to marry. This is the woman who would become the mother of my children. I’ve been thinking about marriage seriously for almost three years now. I was just waiting, I told her the minute you say so, we’ll do it.”

Ranveer never missed a chance to show off his better half on social media. The actor is mostly the first person to have commented on Deepika’s pictures, singing praises of his wife. From birthday wishes to anniversary love notes, Deepika and Ranveer have often taken to social media and expressed affection for one another.

For better or for worse

Previously, giving an insight into their lives, Ranveer Singh spilled the beans on spending life with Deepika Padukone. The award-winning actor said, “Now, we’re cocooned in love, and there is no space for doubt or misgiving. It’s grounded-ness, centred-ness, security, warmth, and joy. We share experiences and laugh together. The added security that comes with marriage has allowed our relationship to blossom further.”

On starting a family

Soon after their marriage, Ranveer attended the India Economic Conclave where he was asked about having children. He said, “It’s not my call really. Partly yes, it’s my call but mostly it’s just her and I allow her that. I allow her to make most of the decisions because she is better at everything. I have no qualms in admitting that she is a much more mature, much more evolved person than me.”

The first meeting

Talking about his first meeting with Deepika, Ranveer said, “There was a famous or infamous reading for the movie at Mr Bhansali’s house in Versova. I was supposed to meet him before Deepika’s arrival. So I was sitting on the table and the door was on my left. He has these heavy doors and he lives by the seaside.”

He further mentioned, “So, these heavy doors open and the gush of wind comes from the sea. There, Deepika enters wearing this white chikankar, hair blowing due to the sea wind just like some sadgi ki moorat. I was like Oh My God.”
