André Braugher, best known for Homicide: Life On The Street and Brooklyn Nine-Nine has died at 61 after a brief illness. The actor made his film debut with Edward Zwick’s 1989 Oscar-winning movie Glory starring alongside Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman.

Braugher had an illustrious career with popular television titles to his name. After being nominated for the prestigious Emmy for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series two times, the actor won the award in 1998

As per recent reports from several outlets, André Braugher passed away at 61 after a brief illness. Braugher has been glorious with his performances earning him two Emmy wins, he won the second Emmy for his role in the FX miniseries Thief. Braugher’s most memorable and fan-favorite role, however, was his comic juxtaposition in the NBC series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The actor played Raymond Holt, a stoic captain in the comedy series which earned him another four Emmy nominations for best supporting actor in a comedy.

After the NBC comedy, the actor appeared in Season 6 of the legal/political drama The Good Fight. The actor was also set to appear in Paul William Davies-created Netflix mystery-drama series The Residence as A. B. Wynter. The show also stars Before I Go and Hide star Molly Griggs and Players actor Dan Perrault.

Braugher left his wife, Ami Brabson, who also appeared in Homicide; their three sons Michael, Isaiah, and John Wesley. His brother Charles and mother Sally also mourned the sudden demise of the actor alongside his global fans.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has a wide and global fandom with fan-favorite black and gay boss in the precinct, Captain Ray Holt. Fans are saddened by the demise of the actor and mourn the absence that will follow. Fans took to social platforms to pay heartfelt tribute to the actor.
