After the final match of the Champions League group stage ended on December 14, the remaining two teams in the round of 16 were determined to be PSG and FC Porto

The 16 teams entering the knockout round of the Champions League 2023–2024 season are divided into 2 seed groups, with the top teams in Group 1 including Bayern Munich, Arsenal,  Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Man City, and Barcelona. Group 2 (second-place teams) are Copenhagen, PSV Eindhoven, Napoli, Inter Milan, Lazio, PSG, RB Leipzig, and FC Porto.

With four teams in the top seed group—Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona—Spanish teams represented the country the most in the Champions League round of 16 (only Sevilla was eliminated).

The three teams that will represent Italian and German football moving forward are Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Napoli, Inter Milan, and Lazio. While MU and Newcastle were both eliminated, the English Premier League now only has two representatives remaining: Arsenal and Manchester City.

Teams from the same group, seed group, or federation will not play each other in the round of 16. Given their placement in Group 2, PSG and Inter Milan will probably face formidable rivals like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, or Manchester City.

PSG, which is in seed group number two, may face formidable opponents.
