Former Formula One driver Giedo van der Garde has ignited speculation regarding the potential departure of Christian Horner, the long-standing Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, amidst allegations of inappropriate behavior. Van der Garde suggested that Horner’s exit could occur as early as next week, coinciding with an investigation into the allegations scheduled for Friday.

The nature of the complaint against the 50-year-old Horner has not been officially disclosed by Red Bull, although reports from the BBC indicate that it pertains to allegations of inappropriate and controlling conduct. Horner vehemently denies the accusations, but the shadow of uncertainty looms over his tenure at the helm of the Austrian racing team.

Van der Garde, expressing concern over the perceived tarnish on Red Bull’s reputation, anticipates Horner’s absence from the presentation of the RB20 car on February 15. Speculation swirls as to the potential fallout of the allegations on the team’s operations and morale, despite Red Bull’s consistent track record of success under Horner’s leadership.

Since assuming the role of Team Principal in 2005, Horner has steered Red Bull to six Constructors’ Championship victories and has played a pivotal role in nurturing the career of prodigious talent Max Verstappen, who clinched three consecutive world titles under Horner’s guidance.

“Horner is, of course, controlled internally by Red Bull. Believe me, when that presentation comes next week, there is no way Horner will be there presenting,” Van der Garde said on his DRS: De Race Show podcast.
