The rumors about Anya Taylor-Joy appearing in Deadpool 3 has now been debunked

Anya Taylor-Joy is one of the rising young actresses of this generation. Her mesmerizing debut in The Witch proved her to be a fresh face in the industry. She has shown her versatility in many films since then including Split, Thoroughbreds, Emma, The Northman, Last Night in Soho, and The Menu.

She also dabbled in the comic book world with 2020’s The New Mutants where she played the X-Men character Magik. There was a rumor that the character would return in the upcoming Deadpool film, but it seems that rumor has been debunked.

Anya Taylor-Joy appeared in 2020’s The New Mutants as Illyana Rasputin/Magik. Although her performance was praised, the film as a whole did not work and was a commercial failure. It was also the last X-Men film under 20th Century Fox before it came under Disney.

There was an ongoing rumor that Taylor-Joy’s character would make an appearance in Deadpool 3. Many who were spreading this rumor pointed to popular scooper Daniel Richtman as the source. Now, Richtman himself took to X to confirm that he did not give any statement regarding the actress’ involvement in the film.

Taylor-Joy’s involvement in the film is also unlikely as The New Mutants was not well received and also bombed at the box office. Although many X-Men cameos are rumored for Deadpool 3, this one does not seem to be happening. However, one never knows what Ryan Reynolds is cooking up with the film.

Anya Taylor-Joy is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming Mad Max prequel film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The film’s trailer was recently released and it has fans extremely excited and pumped for the film. Taylor-Joy also seems to have enjoyed the creative process of playing a younger Furiosa (earlier played by Charlize Theron)

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress talked about the filming process of the movie and called it a life-changing experience for her. She said,

“It will take me the full two years before the movie comes out to even begin to process what I just left 12 days ago. [‘Furiosa’] was the most life-changing experience that I’ve ever had, with such talented artists. I really felt like I grew so much, but yes, it’s wild. It’s utterly unique”

The prequel film also has Chris Hemsworth as the main antagonist and his character has already created a lot of buzz on the internet. The much-awaited film will be released in theaters on May 23, 2024.
