Billie Eilish was ’embarrassed’ to win Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards on Sunday because she thought Megan Thee Stallion ‘deserved’ the award.

The 19-year-old singer admitted she hadn’t expected to be accepting the night’s biggest honor from Sir Ringo Starr for her Everything I Wanted because she felt her fellow nominee should have taken it for her collaboration with Beyonce, Savage.

She said: ‘I’m embarrassed. Megan, girl, I was going to write a speech about how you deserves this, but then I was like, “There’s no way they’re going to choose me. You deserve this.”‘

‘This is really embarrassing for me. I was like, “It’s hers.” You deserve this.

‘You had a year I think was untoppable, you are a queen, I want to cry thinking about how much I love you.

‘You’re so beautiful, you’re so talented, you deserve everything in the world. I think about you constantly, I root for you always.

‘You deserve it, honestly. Genuinely, this goes to her. Can we cheer for Megan Thee Stallion please.’

Standing alongside her brother and collaborator, Finneas O’Connell, she said: ‘But thank you also, I really do appreciate this.

‘Thank you to the Academy, thank you to Ringo, I love you, I love my team, thank you for seeing me, thank you to my brother Finneas, and yeah, thanks for doing this. I love you.’

Epic: Beyonce tied the record for most wins ever by a singer and most wins by a female artist with the help of Houston hottie Megan

While Megan didn’t take home Record Of The Year, she was still a big winner Sunday night.

The Houston hottie won Best Rap Performance along with the coveted Best New Artist award.

And she got to be part of history when she and Beyonce accepted the Best Rap Song honor for Savage, marking Bey tying the record for the most Grammy wins ever by any female artist or any singer male or female.

She would go on to surpass the record with another win for her song Black Is King.
