After driving Kansas City’s offense downfield on the Chiefs’ first possession, Mahomes took a shotgun snap from the 19-yard line. When he dropped back, he saw Kelce open near the corner of the end zone. Mahomes uncorked an incredible pass that hit his All-Pro tight end in the numbers, and Kelce fell into the end zone with a defender draped on his back.
This play gave Kansas City a seven-point advantage in the first quarter after Harrison Butker nailed his extra-point try.
Efforts like this are typical of Mahomes and Kelce, and with any luck, the Chiefs will be able to continue leaning on their prolific connection to keep them ahead of Baltimore.

Three plays later, Patrick Mahomes looked again at Kelce, who was being draped by Baltimore star safety Kyle Hamilton. It didn’t matter. Mahomes threw a pinpoint pass to Kelce’s back shoulder, and Kelce flipped his hips to free himself and haul in the 19-yard score.
Kelce and Mahomes have now connected for 17 TDs in the playoffs, extending their record for the most by any duo in league history. Their third TD connection over the last two weeks gives Kansas City an early 7-0 lead.
This fourth-and-2 catch from Travis Kelce was the key to the Chiefs’ opening scoring drive. Kansas City is staying aggressive, keeping the Ravens offense off the field. Kelce against Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton is something to watch.
