Laura Dern Reveals ‘Deep Friendship’ with Taylor Swift: ‘I Love and Admire Her So Much, She’s Incredible’
Dern opened up about her friendship with Swift at the red carpet premiere of ‘Common Ground’ on Thursday

Taylor Swift is Laura Dern’s BFF!
The Jurassic Park star, 56 — who appeared in the singer’s music video for her single “Bejeweled” in 2022 — opened up to PEOPLE about their friendship at the premiere of Common Ground, held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills on Thursday.
“It’s one of my deep friendships and I love and admire her so much,” Dern says.
“To find a friend amidst the creative, and she’s a superpower… She’s incredible. So that’s been really fun,” she adds.

When asked if starring in the music video had helped her expand her fanbase among Swifties, Dern said she wasn’t sure.
“I don’t know,” she admits. “I don’t know, but I’ll take it.”

In the “Bejeweled” music video — which Swift described as “a twist on a Cinderella story” — the Haim sisters appear as the stepsisters while Oscar-winner Dern plays Swift’s evil stepmother.
The Grammy-winner detailed how she got the Little Women actress to appear during an appearance on the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in October, 2022.
She playfully revealed to host Fallon that she told the actress that she wrote a one-page script in which Dern would get to call her a “tired, tacky wench.”
Dern recalled her version of events in a Nov. 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying that the line was all it took for her to agree.
“Even better is when she’s speaking to you on the phone, asking you if there’s any way you could possibly be willing to say these words to her,” the actress said.

Swift and Dern have maintained their friendship
Dern added to ET that working with Swift had been an “amazing” experience and that she was “so excited for this amazing moment of triumphant success.”
Since collaborating, the actress and the songstress have been spotted having dinner together in New York City.
Dern told USA Today in a November interview that she didn’t know she’d meet “a lifelong friend” when working with Swift and it was “a great honor” to know her.
