On Wednesday, July 3, Loose Women wrapped up their pre-election interview series, having another political guest: Stephen Flynn, the SNP head for Westminster.

Sharing his thoughts about the looming general election with panellists Kaye Adams, Corrie’s Sally Dynevor, Janet Street-Porter and Denise Welch, he disclosed his hopes of retaining his seat, while acknowledging the capriciousness of public opinion.

Flynn commented: “You never know what the public are going to do”, adding that he believes it rests on one’s message’s confidence.

Personal responsibilities, such as caring for a young family, mortgage commitments and nursery fees, also weigh heavily on him, speaking openly about these irrespective of the electoral outcome.

He emphasised how crucial voters’ choices are in deciding who will receive the privilege of representing them. “It’s a big decision for the public, who they want to represent them, and who they want to give that privilege to.”

The discussion then smoothly transitioned from politics to football ahead of England’s quarter-final match against Switzerland on the upcoming Saturday, reports the Mirror.

Probing Flynn about his sporting allegiances, Janet asked: “I’ve got to ask you one question about football”, as Flynn replied: “Don’t do it, don’t do it.”

She added: “You’re a member of the tartan army are you going to root for England on Saturday, yes or no?”
