Taylor Swift’s Walk Mocked at Chiefs Game

Taylor Swift’s walk has become a talking point on social media, after she was filmed arriving to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, as his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, took on the Miami Dolphins on Saturday.

Supporting tight end Kelce, the pop star was among the crowd at Kansas City, Missouri’s GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs secured a 26-7 victory in sub-zero temperatures, in the first AFC playoff round.

Ahead of the matchup, “Shake it Off” singer Swift was filmed arriving at the field for the game dressed in a black top and pants, over which she wore a quilted coat themed around Kelce’s jersey, complete with his number 87.

However, as Swift made her way past a wall of photographers to head to her suite at the stadium, the manner in which she walked in her chunky black boots became the focus of criticism from a faction of social-media users.

Crediting the footage to NBC’s Sunday Night Football, E! News posted the clip on Instagram, alongside the caption: “Even in below zero temps, #TaylorSwift can still make the whole place shimmer. She arrives at the Chiefs vs. Dolphins game to support #TravisKelce.”

“Not shimmering with that ‘trying [too] hard to look cool’ awkward walk lol [laugh out loud],” an Instagram user responded in the comments section.

“Why does she walk like that?” asked one user, while another wrote: “Is she pigeon toed?” Another described Swift as looking “like a kid that needs to pee.”

While one posted that Swift had “big clumsy-looking feet,” another shared their reaction to her walk: “I thought, ‘Hey your boots are too big, girl!'”

Many other Instagram users defended Swift, with one writing that her footwear of choice “look like Doc Martens. You ever wore those? They’re heavy as s***.”

Urging Swift’s detractors to chill, another posted: “Damn, y’all can’t even let a girl just walk without being mean.”

“Wow, people really can’t stand [a] gorgeous, successful, nice, well-mannered, kind, sweet billionaire woman,” commented another.

“Love how all she does is walk into a room and every[one] criticizes her,” another wrote.

Swift was seen lapping up the atmosphere during Saturday’s game, and even joined in a spontaneous “Swag Surfin'” celebratory dance with the crowd.

Fast Life Yungstaz song “Swag Surfin,'” released in 2009, has developed into something of an anthem for the Chiefs, with fans joining in from the stands. Swift was recorded performing the dance alongside Donna Kelce, her boyfriend’s mother, and Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes.

Swift and Travis Kelce became one of the hottest new celebrity couples after going public with their romance in September. At the time, Swift captured headlines when she attended a Chiefs game alongside Donna Kelce, who has proven herself to be a passionate “Swiftie” in her own right.

Swift has since become a fixture at Chiefs games, with NFL broadcasts often focusing on her presence—much to the exasperation of some football fans.

“I’m just there to support Travis,” Swift recently told Time. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and p****** off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

Addressing the cameras often panning her way, Swift said: “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in. There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when [the] camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”

“Football is awesome, it turns out,” Swift added (“playfully,” according to Sam Lansky, the author of the story). “I’ve been missing out my whole life.”
