His father, James, played football at the University of Central Oklahoma, while his mother, Tami, was a track athlete at the same university. It was no surprise when Creed followed in their footsteps, developing a passion for sports from an early age.

 

Humphrey attended Shawnee High School, where he lettered in both football and basketball. He was a dominant force on the gridiron, earning First-Team All-State honors and being named the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year.
