Stephen A. Smith has been forced to deny some embarrassing allegations about his book.

The ‘First Take’ host is the author of a book called ‘Straight Shooter: A Memoir of Second Chances and First Takes’ in which he details his journey to becoming a prominent member of the media.

Speaking during said show this Tuesday, he took some time to clear the air on recent rumors claiming he may not have written it himself and it contains some lies. These allegations likely stem from a recent article from Jason Whitlock titled: ‘Does Katt Williams’ interview expose Stephen A. Smith as a fraud?’

“I can assure you, so help me God, I wrote my book,” Smith insisted. “It’s my memoir. It’s my life story. I wasn’t leaving that in the hands of other people.”

‘First Take’ co-host Molly Qerim backed Stephen A., telling him he shouldn’t even waste any time acknowledging such accusations given that he worked as a columnist for multiple newspapers during his earlier days in journalism.

Shannon Sharpe, who was also on the show, claimed to know who Smith was referring to (likely Whitlock) and doesn’t understand why he cares about his book.

Of course, one can understand why Smith would want to clear the air on something like that given he has the platform to do so. Accusing a journalist of pretending to write a book is no small thing.
