In Spurs-Kings Game:Victor Wembanyama Made NBA History

UPDATE: The Spurs lost by a score of 127-122, and Victor Wembanyama finished with 19 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, five steals and five blocks.

On Thursday evening, the San Antonio Spurs are playing the Sacramento Kings in California.

During the game, star rookie Victor Wembanyama, who is playing in his 50th game, made NBA history.

Via NBA History: “With the 500th rebound of his career in tonight’s game, Victor Wembanyama becomes the third-fastest player to total 1K+ points, 500+ rebounds, and 150+ blocks in their career.”

The only two players ahead of him are David Robinson (47 games) and Shaquille O’Neal (43 games).

Wembanyama came into the evening with impressive averages of 20.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.2 blocks per contest while shooting 46.8% from the field and 32.0% from the three-point range.

Earlier this month, the 20-year-old had an incredible triple-double (with blocks) in a 122-99 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

He put up 27 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, two steals and ten blocks while shooting 10/14 from the field and 2/4 from the three-point range in only 29 minutes of playing time.

That said, the Spurs are in rebuilding mode and have been among the worst teams in the NBA.

They are the 15th seed in the Western Conference with an 11-44 record in 55 games.

Over the last ten games, the Spurs are 3-7, and they most recently lost to Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks by a score of 116-93.

Following the Kings, the Spurs will visit D’Angelo Russell and the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday evening in California.

On the road, they are 6-23 in 29 games.
