There is a long list of actors who could possibly take the title of the next James Bond.
While nothing is confirmed so far, fans have shortlisted the stars like Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, and other top Hollywood actors.
However, one of the names among these has been in talks to take over the mantle of 007 even before Daniel Craig ended his venture for the James Bond movies.
Idris Elba
The former Bond girl, who starred alongside Craig in the 2012 film Skyfall, has said that the Beast star has met the James Bond producer, as she mentioned that he could possibly be the next and the very first Black James Bond.

Daniel Craig has portrayed the MI6 agent 007 since the 2006 film Casino Royale and was last seen in the 2021 film No Time to Die, leading to the search for the new James Bond actor.
Fans have been rooting for stars like Henry Cavill, who earlier auditioned for the role but lost it to the Spectre star.
Naomie Harris in Skyfall
However, Idris Elba became the choice of the former Bond girl, Naomie Harris, long before the Man of Steel star joined the conversation.
Followed by the release of the 2012 film, the Skyfall actress shared in an interview that the Luther star could become the next James Bond.
“I didn’t realize that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond.”

However, fans still have been excited about him not only for succeeding Craig but also for being the first Black James Bond.
Idris Elba on Being the Next James Bond
While fans and his fellow actors are eager to see him as James Bond, the actor himself doesn’t seem too interested in playing 007.
During an interview, the Hobbs & Shaw actor shared that he does not aim to be the next James Bond as he didn’t think that “playing Bond will satisfy some of [his] personal goals.”
Idris Elba in Luther
However, he seemed much interested in his character, John Luther, from the TV series Luther.
“You know, a lot of people talk about another character that begins with ‘J’ and ends with ‘B,’ but I’m not going to be that guy. I’m going to be John Luther,” he mentioned during an interview.
His possibility of playing the character has also shortened as the makers are preferring actors in their 30s for the role.
