Rachel Weisz has revealed whether she would be ready to take over the role of James Bond from husband Daniel Craig

The actress disclosed whether or not she’d be willing to play a female version of the character.

Rachel Weisz is opening up about potentially embodying a female version of James Bond, the iconic role her husband Daniel Craig played in five installments of the film franchise.

In a recent interview with Extra, the star—whose next project Dead Ringers drops on Amazon’s Prime Video on April 21—made it clear where she stands on the potential of stepping into the Bond movies as the famed lead character.

The Black Widow actress told the outlet she would “definitely not” be on-board with rebooting the part of secret agent 007, doubling down on her stance by confirming: “That’s a male character written by a man for a man.

No personal interest in that. If someone else does, that’s great.”

As clear cut as her answer was, she did not, however, mention taking part in the film series in general by entering another role, nor did she give any other insight into further knowledge she may have of the future of the James Bond role.

On another note, while chatting with reporters, Weisz voiced her support for The Mummy costar Brendan Fraser, who recently took home his first Oscar at this year’s ceremony for his portrayal of Charlie in The Whale, saying she was “so happy” for the actor.

“I texted after his win. I texted him after I saw the performance. It was a staggeringly good film,” she divulged.

As for her own upcoming show, which she admitted her hubby is a “big fan” of, she actually came up with the idea to do it, herself.

“It always haunted me, and so one day I was thinking about wouldn’t it be great to do a TV show about sisters and I went… ‘What if?’ And that was the idea.

It was just basically so I could play the roles,” she said.

Dead Ringers will have audiences seeing double, as Rachel plays terrifying twin obstetricians in the new limited series.

The psychological thriller—based on the classic 1988 David Cronenberg film of the same name—originally starred Jeremy Irons as both twin brothers.
