Actor Henry Cavill reflects on Daniel Craig’s tenure playing James Bond after he lost out on the role. Craig began playing Bond in 2006, debuting in Casino Royale.

Craig went on to act in four more Bond films, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and finishing with No Time to Die in 2021.

Speaking with SiriusXM, Cavill thinks back on Craig’s Bond era after having lost out on the role.

After co-panelist Matthew Vaugh commented on the “Bond curse,” Cavill chimed in to say that he doesn’t “think there’s a curse for those kinds of things.”

He went on to sing the praises of Craig and the rest of the people who brought his Bond era to life. Check out the full quote from Craig below:

First of all, I don’t think there’s a curse for those kinds of things, but I do think Daniel [Craig] did an absolutely amazing job.

And he and everyone else involved breathed new life into the franchise, which did it wonders.

Could Henry Cavill Play The Next James Bond?

Craig’s tenure as Bond officially came to an end with the 25th franchise film, No Time To Die.

This exit has sent the Bond team on a search for who will play 007 in Bond 26 and other upcoming films.

Naturally, this search has led to several rumors and fan casts as to who should be the next Bond, with propositions including Idris Elba, Richard Madden, Will Poulter, Tom Hardy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and even Cavill himself.

Now, Cavill might be a little too old to play Bond, as the actor is currently 40.

Since the search has begun, producer Barbara Broccoli, who co-owns the rights to the franchise, has set some conditions for who should play the next Bond.

According to the producer, the next 007 actor should ideally be someone in their late 20s or early 30s.

This is due to the fact that playing 007 can be a 10-12 year and multi-film commitment.

It’s still unknown who will play the next James Bond, but the next villain could also emerge from among the fan-favorites to play 007.

This updated age range is unfortunate for Cavill, as he previously lost out on the role in Casino Royale because he was too young (at the time of Casino Royale’s release, the actor was 23).

Now, Cavill might be a little too old, as the actor is currently 40. However, Roger Moore played Bond from age 45 to 57.

Cavill may have missed the window of opportunity for Bond 26, but luckily, the other rumored contenders offer some exciting James Bond choices.
