Actress Brenda Song – who gave birth to her first child with boyfriend Macaulay Culkin – has a Hmong father and a Thai mother.

Brenda Song was born and raised in the suburb of Carmichael, California, in an ethnic Hmong family of Thai origin.  Her father worked as a teacher and her mother was a housewife and raised the children.  When Song was six years old, her family moved to Los Angeles to support her in pursuing her dream of becoming an actress and model.

As a child, Song wanted to learn ballet while his brother liked taekwondo.  Her mother could only take her child to one class during the day and choose taekwondo for both of them.

Song started working as a fashion model at the age of six and acted in many commercials.

She gradually became known for her supporting roles in many movies and television series such as “Thunder Alley”, “Fudge”, “100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd”… In 2000, she won the supporting female award at the Young Artist Awards.

By 2002, she signed a contract with Disney and participated in many of the studio's shows.  She attracted attention as the daughter of the super-rich London Tipton family in the series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2055). According to NY Times, the role made a mark.

The script revolves around a Chinese female high school student in California, who is chosen to be a legendary warrior against demons.

The work is one of Disney’s first film projects targeting the Asian community in the US, exploiting the issue of preserving the homeland’s cultural identity among the younger generation.

 According to Mochi , Song learned taekwondo with his brother since childhood.
