Warner Bros. is enjoying the overwhelming success of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which is making waves on HBO Max while the team also working to continue with the canon DCEU.
This includes a half-dozen feature films confirmed to be released in the next couple of years, some of them beginning production in the coming weeks.
Due to this production timeline, the team behind the franchise is particularly hard at work with casting numerous roles that need to be filled.
This is bringing some expectedly big names into the DCEU, such as Helen Mirren playing the villain in the Shazam! sequel and Office Space star Ron Livingston taking on Henry Allen in The Flash.
This trend continues in the most recent news blast, which sees one of the most distinguished men in Hollywood making his arrival into the superhero genre.
PIERCE BROSNAN JOINS THE DCEU
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Pierce Brosnan will be joining the cast of the Dwayne Johnson-starring Black Adam. Brosnan will be playing the classic DC hero, Doctor Fate.
Following the announcement, the movie’s star Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter to share his excitement over Brosnan’s addition to the cast:
THE NAME’S FATE…DOCTOR FATE…
After the initial casting call was said to be looking for a Sam Rockwell-type to play the role, the movie mogul seems to have struck gold with their eventual choice.
Pierce Brosnan is one of the best-known actors of the 21st century, best known as the sixth man to play James Bond; he brought the 007 agent to life on four separate occasions from 1994 to 2004.
Brosnan’s resume also includes starring roles in ’90s classics like Mrs.
Doubtfire and Dante’s Peak, although Black Adam should bring him back into the spotlight in a big way as well.
As one of the founding members of the Justice Society of America, Doctor Fate will be quite the powerful personality to bring into the DCEU for his first live-action showing.
His powers are comparable to Doctor Stephen Strange, Marvel Comics’ own Sorcerer Supreme, and the magical abilities he possesses should come in handy alongside other heroes like Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, and Dwayne Johnson’s own Man in Black.
Black Adam is set to begin filming in the near future, although it still stands without a release date.
