A poster for a Home Alone reboot titled Cabin Alone has appeared online, suggesting that Macaulay Culkin is returning to play Kevin McCallister.
However, the teaser is fake and has been created by a self-professed satirical fan page on social media.
The reaction from Home Alone fans suggests a Kevin McCallister-focused sequel could prove popular.
Since its release in 1990, Home Alone has been a go-to Christmas movie for millions of viewers every year and has spawned a franchise spanning a total of six films.
Now, according to a post circulating on social media, a new film starring Macaulay Culkin is on its way to Disney+, or at least, that’s what the apparent poster wants fans to believe.
Sadly, for fans hoping that Cabin Alone is on its way to Disney+, the apparent Home Alone sequel is not real and no such film is currently in active development.
The poster that has been circulating on social media is the work of the Facebook page YODA BBY ABY which is a self-professed satirical account that is “100% satire and fake news.”
In recent weeks, the page has also been responsible for posts claiming that a Die Hard remake starring John Krasinski is on the cards as well as a live-action Polar Express prequel and a Star Wars version of Marvel’s What If…? series among others.
On top of the poster is a surprisingly plausible synopsis which reads: “Get ready for a hilarious adventure in “Cabin Alone” starring Macaulay Culkin! When his family’s cabin getaway turns into treasure hunt chaos, Kevin must outsmart bumbling treasure hunters convinced DB Cooper’s loot is under his cabin. Will he save the day before his family arrives and crashes the party? Find out in this laugh-out-loud family comedy!”
Home Alone fans long for more Macaulay Culkin
The Facebook post showing the Cabin Alone trailer has earned almost 5,000 shares and more than 500 fans have commented on the post, with many planning movie nights that will never happen.
“I can’t wait to watch it. This sounds like a great sequel,” said one fan. “Will anyone else from the first two movies return?”
While a second added: “Sweeeet can’t wait.”
A third fan commented: “If this is real I couldn’t be more excited.”
Others had inventive alternative ideas for an adult-themed plot of now that Kevin has grown up: “Invaders get locked into the cabin and have to face his adult traps of death is how it plays in my head, Christmas Horror
“Spoiler alert: It’s the Wet Bandits buried under the cabin,” commented another.
“Will the coroner finish the autopsy before Christmas?”
And finally, this fan had a message for Disney: “Well if it’s not real, hopefully someone from the movie or production will see that it would be so happily anticipated by so many that it would be a great idea.”

An R-rated Home Alone sequel was being worked on
While Cabin Alone may be a social media creation, the idea of having Kevin McCallister return as an adult was being touted for a time in 2018.
The project in question was titled Stoned Alone and would have seen Kevin grow up into a weed-growing ‘loser’ who decides to get high after missing a family skiing vacation.
This would have led to Kevin hallucinating a break-in and having to defend his house in drug-fueled paranoia.
Ryan Reynolds was attached to the movie as a producer but the project fell into development hell after Disney acquired 21st Century Fox and by extension the Home Alone franchise.
