Arnold Schwarzenegger rehashed an unbelievable story during his recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, admitting to Kelly Clarkson that he accidentally caused former first lady Barbara Bush to break her leg.

During the talk show’s Oct. 18 episode, he explained that when he was the Chairman of George Bush Sr.‘s Council on Fitness in the early 90s, he would often be invited to the presidential retreat at Camp David.

5 Surprising Facts About Arnold Schwarzenegger's Diet, Fitness Routine

Schwarzenegger recalled, “I was one time up there in the winter. And so, he said to me, ‘I have this great sled,’ which was not really a sled; it was a toboggan.”

He noted that with sleds, you can steer them with your feet, but with the toboggan, he “couldn’t really steer.

The Terminator star divulged, “So, we go down the hill in the snow there. He’s sitting behind me and he says, ‘You steer.’ And I did not know how to steer.

So, I just go faster and faster, and all of a sudden, we’re approaching this tree, and all of a sudden Barbara comes up behind the tree and then we just ran into her leg.”

Clarkson’s jaw dropped upon hearing the story, and continued her expression of disbelief when Schwarzenegger said she had to go to the hospital afterwards.

The actor added, “She got a cast on it and a whole thing. But I have to say that they were very gracious about it and the way they took it.”

The 76-year-old former governor of California also confirmed that he apologized over the accident and expressed how bad he felt over the situation.

He’d previously touched on the incident in his 2012 memoir, Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story.

In the book, he wrote, “The president and I came down the hill too fast and crashed into Barbara, and she ended up in the hospital with a broken leg.”

Schwarzenegger’s appearance on the talk show was to promote his new book, Be Useful, which is part memoir, part self-help guide.

It gives insight into other wild anecdotes, including his unorthodox parenting techniques.
