‘Terminator’ Arnold Schwarzenegger decided to leave The Apprentice due to disagreements with US President Donald Trump.
The Apprentice (roughly translated: Apprentice) is a famous American reality television show, bringing together a group of contestants with business knowledge to compete against each other to choose the final winner.
The reward will be a year of executive work at one of the companies of real estate tycoon, businessman, TV star and current US President Donald Trump with a starting salary of 250,000 USD/year.
The new version of The Apprentice , The Celebrity Apprentice , was released later, alternating with the original version for 14 seasons with Donald Trump as host.
It cannot be denied that the initial success of The Apprentice was thanks to Mr. Trump, whose saying “You’re fired” has become a trademark.
The Apprentice brought Mr. Trump’s reputation to the American people
As of the 2016-2017 season of The Celebrity Apprentice, Terminator star , businessman and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger served as host. The reason is because Mr. Donald Trump is too busy running for US President so he decided to give up the MC position.
So NBC invited Schwarzenegger to replace this position.
In terms of social position, Arnold Schwarzenegger has many similarities with Mr. Trump. Both are active in business, politics and entertainment.
From the 1970s to 1980s, Schwarzenegger became an A-list Hollywood star thanks to his role in The Terminator directed by James Cameron.
In 2003, he became the 38th Governor of California with a term that lasted until 2011. His business career was also extremely successful.
He owns assets of several hundred million dollars earned from real estate, stocks, private companies and bodybuilding competitions. In addition, he is also a globally famous bodybuilder with seven Olympia wins.
Arnold Schwarzenegger made a splash in the movie industry with his role as The Terminator
It was thought that with those successes, Schwarzenegger would be the right choice to replace Mr. Trump. But in the end, a conflict occurred between him and the show’s former MC. That conflict made Schwarzenegger decide to leave The Celebrity Apprentice forever.
In an interview with Empire , the former Terminator star said: “It’s not because the show has problems. My acquaintances all said they liked the program but had to turn it off when they saw Mr. Trump’s name on it.”
He also confirmed to The Wrap that The Apprentice ‘s audience and sponsors turned to boycott because they learned that Mr. Trump was still involved in the show’s production process.
And the former California governor has emphasized that he will firmly refuse even if invited onto the program again.
Although he has no intention of returning to The Apprentice as a host, Mr. Trump still maintains a role in producing and collecting royalties regularly. But the income is getting less and less due to the decline in viewership.
Currently, both versions of The Apprentice only retain about 4 million viewers, compared to 21 million views during Mr. Trump’s heyday.
However, the decrease in views is not entirely Schwarzenegger’s fault, in fact, since Mr. Trump’s time, the number of viewers has decreased steadily over the years.
Mr. Trump is always confident that under his management, The Apprentice will be the most watched show on television, although in reality that is not necessarily the case.
People who work with Mr. Trump said the US President is always obsessed with ratings.
Mr. Donald Trump publicly mentioned Arnold Schwarzenegger on Twitter
That’s not all. Faced with the continued decline in viewership, Mr.
Trump openly mocked Schwarzenegger many times on Twitter and in public appearances.
Even during the National Prayer Breakfast at the White House on February 2, 2017, Mr. Trump openly mocked Schwarzenegger by praying for the success of The Apprentice.
Last January, Mr. Trump continued to touch on The Celebrity Apprentice by evoking the “rating pain” and cursing at Schwarzenegger: “He’s a star actor and that’s it. Just compare him to the 14 seasons of shows I did before that.
But who cares, he supported Kasich and Hillary.”
Schawarzenegger also responded by tweeting: “I hope that you will dedicate yourself to American citizens as much as you contribute to the program’s ratings.”
