UNBELIEVABLE: NBA Players Ranked Scottie Barnes Shockingly Low in All-Star Honors

NBA Players haven’t caught on to Scottie Barnes’ fantastic season as the Toronto Raptors forward ranked 11th among Eastern Conference frontcourt players

Scottie Barnes hasn’t quite earned the respect of his NBA peers yet.

Despite a fantastic start to the season for the third-year Toronto Raptors forward, Barnes received just 21 All-Star Starter votes from fellow NBA players, the league announced Thursday. That had him tied with Pascal Siakam for the 11th most votes among Eastern Conference frontcourt players.

The top of the list was obvious with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum garnering the most player votes, respectively. Surprisingly, Paolo Banchero had the fourth most player votes, followed by Bam Adebayo, and Jaylen Brown, respectively.

At No. 7, the list begins to get pretty strange as Mikal Bridges received 29 player votes, ahead of Jimmy Butler at No. 8. Kristaps Porzingis follows at No. 9 before Jarrett Allen rounds out the top 10 with 25 frontcourt votes.

Siakam, Barnes, and Julius Randle finished in a three-way tie for 11th with 21 votes each, just ahead of Tobias Harris.

In fan voting, Barnes finished 10th among Eastern Conference frontcourt players with 507,697 votes, edging out Bridges who came 11th. Antetokounmpo led the conference with 5,427,874 votes.

The media only ranked the top seven forwards with Antetokounmpo, Embiid, and Tatum ranked one through three, respectively. Barnes did not receive any media votes, nor did any Raptors player.

As for the rest of the Raptors roster, RJ Barrett received three votes from NBA players, Jakob Poeltl and Bruce Brown received two, and Chris Boucher, Thad Young, and Jontay Porter each received one vote.

The final seven All-Star reserve spots will be decided on by conference coaches with three frontcourt spots, two backcourt spots, and two wildcard spots still up for grabs. Those spots will be announced on Feb. 1.
