Charlize Theron has been known to star in some pretty intense roles throughout her Hollywood career. From portraying a rebel warrior with Guzzoline to a real-life serial killer, the actress does not let anyone deny what she wants to do.
An incident occurred during the shooting of her 2003 movie Monster when director Patty Jenkins was at a loss for words. Theron, however, quickly stepped in to defend the director’s vision and gave a blunt “no” to the studio that wanted a lesbian story rather than the life of the serial killer.

When Charlize Theron Saved Patty Jenkins’ Movie
The 2003 movie titled Monster featured Charlize Theron in the lead role of Aileen Wuornos. Portraying the role of a real-life serial killer, director Patty Jenkins helmed the project and the screenplay for the movie.

With a lover to her name, Theron’s character of Wuornos was romantically involved with Christina Ricci’s Selby Wall. Keeping the focus intact on the serial killer, studio executives did not like it when director Patty Jenkins refused them a hot lesbian make-out scene that they wanted to show in the movie. Winning an Oscar for her role in Monster, Charlize Theron revealed what went down during the shooting of the movie in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“Having absolutely no control over what you’re wearing is a big one that really fu–ing annoyed me for years. Having some guy make you have a fitting almost in front of them—stuff like that, it’s really belittling,”
She further recalled how a male director was making her change countless times for a movie and stated that it was obviously regarding her “sexuality and how f–kable they could make me in the movie”.
