Casting director Pat McCorkle shared with NPR,
“Actually, he said, ‘Don’t get the hottest 25- and 26-year-old. I want someone a little more mature, so we have a mature relationship.’”
There were also talks about the chances of a sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair. As per reports, Hollywood star Angelina Jolie was attached to the film, however, Brosnan wanted to cast Charlize Theron instead of Mr. and Mrs. Smith star.
Brosnan once told People,
“Nothing against Angelina Jolie. I think she’s a magnificent actress. But Charlize has a poise about her and has an inner strength and femininity which I really like to watch.”
Brosnan also shared the reason for choosing Theron as he was a fan of her work,
“Charlize Theron is someone who I’ve always admired. I think she’s someone who has acquitted herself grandly.”
