Yankees, Marcus Stroman Agree to Two-Year Contract, per Report -TH

Right-handed pitcher Marcus Stroman agreed on a contract with the New York Yankees on Thursday night, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan. New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported first.

The contract is set at two years and for $37 million, Fansided’s Robert Murray reported. The deal also includes an option for a third season in New York.

The 32-year-old is coming off two seasons with the Chicago Cubs. 2023 was an All-Star season for Stroman as he posted a 3.95 ERA over 136.2 innings pitched. He totaled a 10–9 record in his starts.

Stroman teased the news just before the announcement started spreading as he posted an edited photo of himself in a Yankees uniform to his Instagram story.

Stroman previously played in New York, but for the Mets during part of the 2019 season and the full ‘21 season. His other All-Star season came in 2019, when he was split between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Mets.

The Stroman news came on the same night that the Yankees avoided arbitration with Juan Soto by agreeing to a $31 million, one-year deal. The 2024 season will mark Soto’s first with the Yankees.
