BREAKING: Startling New Details Emerge From Wander Franco Case Following Shortstop’s Detainment In The Dominican Republic

New, starling developments have emerged from the Wander Franco case after the Tampa Bay Rays shortstop was detained in the Dominican Republic on Monday.

Per the Associated Press, DR prosecutors are now accusing Franco of commercial sex exploitation and money laundering on top of allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a minor. The mother of the minor is also facing said charges.

The AP’s report notes as well that prosecutors have pushed for an $86,000 bond while also asking that the 22-year-old be prevented from leaving the island and placed under house arrest.

The money laundering charges stem from payments Franco made to the minor’s mother, who is also facing house arrest.

A judge has been furnished with evidence and is set to issue a ruling on Friday. The judge can either release the player on bond, place him under temporary arrest, prevent him from leaving the DR, or mandate occasional appearances until the trial ends.

Franco remains in jail for the time being.

The MLB placed the All-Star shortstop on administrative leave under its domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy with the players’ association following the allegations in August.

He has been paid while on leave.
