The return of Draymond Green will not have had the desired effect for the Warriors. The interior could not prevent the defeat of his teammates, and afterwards, he drew up a rather terrible observation for Golden State. The locker room risks reacting to the provocation.

Draymond Green and Steph Curry, Warriors players

The Warriors had every reason to hope for a great victory this Monday on the occasion of Martin Luther King Day. Already, the return of Draymond Green to the squad should give a big boost to this team which has been in doubt for many weeks now, both in the organization of the game and in the defensive structure.

And then on the other side, Taylor Jenkins had to do without Ja Morant or Desmond Bane, who are Memphis’ two main offensive weapons. Even though they are going through a complicated season, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson should have easily taken over Luke Kennard and Ziaire Williams… Except that when nothing goes, nothing goes, even in such a dynasty.

Draymond Green criticizes Warriors defense

To everyone’s surprise, Steve Kerr’s men lost 116-107 and are in 12th place in the Western Conference behind the Rockets! During a press conference after this new sad result, Draymond Green was rather clear on the shortcomings of his team. For him, no one is defending on the pitch anymore:

The problem is that we lack pride. We must have this pride as a man, to say to ourselves: “I am not going to let my opponent score on me”. We were sluggish on returns, slow on assists… I didn’t see any pride. And as long as that’s the case, we’ll suck. Yes there are ball losses in attack, but we don’t know how to defend. As long as that doesn’t change, we’re going to lose.

There are problems everywhere. It starts with the player guarding the ball handler and continues with everyone behind him. A team is made up of individuals, and individually we are terrible at defense. If we find players who pride themselves on defending well, then the problems can be solved. Otherwise, nothing will change, it’s as simple as that.

For Draymond Green, his teammates clearly lack pride and they too easily accept being beaten by their opponents in 1 on 1. And as long as nothing changes at this level, he does not see how Golden State will be able to regain the heights of the conference, or at least results that match their ambition. It’s up to him to set an example until the end of the season!

Draymond Green hasn’t returned to lay low after his rocky start to the season. From his first match, he spoke strongly about the shortcomings of his teammates, calling into question the pride of some on the pitch.
