Lindsay Lohan has been through the ringer over the past decade or so.

After the child star became famous playing twins in The Parent Trap, she took on many other roles, including Cady in Mean Girls. Lohan has made headlines for her romantic life, and it’s impossible to forget that she has had some trouble over the years, too.

Lohan’s net worth is now only $800,000 as she’s gained a reputation for some less than perfect behavior. There’s one moment that everything started to go downhill for Lindsay Lohan, so let’s take a look…

Lohan’s Behavior On ‘The Canyons’ Film Set

Everyone remembers how cute Lohan was as a child but the press surrounding her decisions in recent years hasn’t been so favorable.

In January 2013, an article was published in The New York Times Magazine called “This Is What Happens When You Cast Lindsay Lohan In Your Movie.” Because Lohan’s behavior on the set of the film The Canyons was so poor, it’s fair to say that this was when her reputation really started to dwindle, and it’s when her trouble was really amplified.

Director Paul Schrader cast Lohan in the role of Tara and James Deen in the role of Christian, but as outlined in the magazine article, Lohan bailed on a meeting with both of them before filming started.

She claimed she would attend the meeting when it was rescheduled, but she wasn’t there for that one either. Because of this, the director actually told her that she couldn’t be in the movie anymore. But she was really upset and pleaded with him to let her play the role and Lindsay got her way.

Lohan was late for much of the shoot, it seems like this is really when her life and career changed. Instead of being known as a talented young actress who could take on a variety of parts, she was known for tardiness and being difficult to work with.

When Lady Gaga started staying at the Chateau Marmont, Lohan partied with her until almost 6 in the morning, and she went for a $600 lunch with some pals when she was supposed to be filming the movie.

Previous Trouble

Before filming The Canyons, Lohan had a long history that didn’t paint her in a very flattering light. According to CNN, she went to rehab three times and had three different convictions related to substances in 2007. In 2010, Lohan was in jail for 14 days (because of “overcrowding”) and in February 2011, she was accused of stealing a necklace from a store that was worth $2,500, according to MTV. This is just a shortlist of the legal trouble that she has faced.

Two Reality Shows

It’s clear that Lohan’s behavior while filming The Canyons only continued, as she was supposed to have a comeback with a reality series on Oprah’s network. But as it turns out, she behaved in the same manner.

There were eight episodes of the show and in the third episode of Lindsay, Lohan said she didn’t want cameras following her.

According to Radar Online, Amy Rice, the director, told a producer on the phone, “I think she’s trying to sabotage this.”

Lohan sent a text message to Rice saying, “I really need a day today just for myself. I’m with my sober companion and I’m feeling really pressured. I need to go through things without the cameras.”

Rice wasn’t pleased, as Lohan was actually late for seven out of 12 days that were on the calendar to film the reality show. In another episode, Lohan doesn’t attend some of the events that she’s supposed to, which would help resurrect her career.

According to The Washington Post, she didn’t even go to the Venice Film Festival to support The Canyons. She said she was “too stressed out to fly.” According to NY Daily News, Oprah Winfrey said about filming a show with Lohan, “This is just what everyone warned me would happen (working with her). And it is.”

In 2019, Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club premiered on MTV, but it only got one season. Cheat Sheet says that ratings weren’t good so the show didn’t back for another season and she doesn’t even continue to own the Mykonos beach club that was the show’s main setting.

Fans of Lindsay Lohan have followed her career over the past decade and more, hoping that she’ll take on more film roles and get back to where she was before. It’s definitely interesting to look at when her reputation started to go downhill, and hopefully, it won’t be too long before she’s on top of her acting game once again.
