Former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal has left fans worried following a startling confession.
The basketball icon boasts a net worth of $400 million but he didn’t seem all that happy while he was offering advice to Eagles star Jason Kelce, who was a recent guest on his podcast.
Kelce is considering retirement and is likely to announce his decision in a few weeks, having told Shaq he will inform everyone of his decision in a “couple weeks” while being interviewed on ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq.”
A clip from the podcast episode has gone viral as it shows The Diesel telling Kelce to accept retirement if that’s the way he decides to go, to enjoy his family, and to avoid the “dumb mistakes” he made.
“My advice to you is, if you are going to retire, accept it, enjoy your family, brother. I made a lot of dumb mistakes to where I lost my family and I didn’t have anybody,” he admitted.
“That’s not the case for you so enjoy your beautiful wife, enjoy your beautiful kids, and never dwell on what we had. What we had is what we got — you got the ring, people know who you are — enjoy. Because, again, I was an idiot. And I’ve talked about it a long time. Lost my whole family. I’m in a 100,000-square-foot house by myself.”
The admission prompted some concern from fans online.
“I hope Shaq is okay,” one wrote. “He seems like such a genuine and decent man. His charitability and kindness towards children always make me smile. He brings joy to so many people, and I hope he can find joy one day too.”
Shaq married Shaunie Nelson in 2002; they went through a divorce in 2011. The former couple have four children together.
