Michael Jackson visited young man run over by his entourage in hospital; Rihanna paid tribute and offered to pay for the wake of a fan murdered by her stepfather

After the death of Ana Clara Benevides on Friday (17), two stories of celebrities who showed solidarity with Brazilian fans were remembered. The stories gained prominence again amid criticism that Taylor Swift received for not offering help to the victim’s family or speaking out about the case during her show on Sunday (19).

The fan died after falling ill during the first show of Taylor Swift ‘s The Eras Tour  in Brazil, held at the Nilton Santos stadium, in Rio de Janeiro.

According to Rio’s Municipal Health Department (SMS), the 23-year-old woman died after a cardiorespiratory arrest. The young woman was from the city of Sonora, in the interior of Mato Grosso do Sul, and was studying Psychology at the Federal University of Rondonópolis (UFR).

Michael Jackson visited young man he ran over in hospital

In October 1993, Michael Jackson came to Brazil to perform two shows on the Dangerous World Tour. Days before the presentations, the king of pop had two commitments:

go to the Playcenter amusement park;

visit the Estrela factory to buy toys to donate to children admitted to a children’s hospital.

During the visit to the company, in Guarulhos, in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, Michael’s entourage was received by a crowd of fans. The place was so full, the singer and his team decided to cancel the visit.

“The cars turned around, at that moment I was standing there on the hood of the police car, and when the factory gates opened, that crowd got excited and the cars started to lose control, and they were avoiding people, because the people threw themselves in front of cars,” Márcio Alberto de Paula told Hollywood Forever TV.

He was pressed by the star’s vehicles against a vehicle that was at the scene, had an open fracture in his femur and needed to be rushed into surgery. “From the waist down, I was hurt all over,” he said.

Márcio was admitted to a hospital and received a surprise visit from Michael Jackson in his room.

“All patients had to be confined to their rooms, each room had a security guard at the door, no one could even stick their head out.”

The singer took photos with the young man, talked to his family and even showed off his famous dance moves.

Rihanna paid for a fan’s wake

In 2014, Tiago Sobral Valença, aged 15, was stabbed to death by his stepfather in Sergipe. The young man was a fan of Rihanna and received a tribute from the Barbadian singer.

At the time, the voice of “Work” and “Love On The Brain” posted a photo of Tiago on her official Twitter profile and made a series of publications expressing solidarity with his death.

“Rest in peace. For one of our soldiers brutally murdered yesterday in Brazil. Tiago, 14 years old, will forever be in our hearts,” said Rihanna.

A Brazilian producer of the singer sought contact with the victim’s father and offered to pay for the funeral. Rihanna even insisted that he accept the help.

Crowdfunding to help family of Taylor fan

The family of young Ana Clara Benevides, aged 23, had to take out a loan to cover the costs of transporting her body from Rio de Janeiro to Mato Grosso do Sul, her home state.

A group of fans of the American artist decided to create a campaign to help the family. Through social media, they are sharing a Pix so that donations can be made directly to Ana’s mother , Adriana Benevides.

In a video published on social media, the mother of young Ana Clara Benevides appears thanking Taylor Swift’s fans for the donations made to the family .

“Yesterday we started a fundraiser asking for help and now this morning we have received enough money to do everything we wanted. Many people donated. Much gratitude for everything.”

“Today I know that my daughter was very loved. Her friends stayed with me here yesterday until 4 am telling their stories, my daughter’s stories and it was just joy”, says the mother in the video released.
