However, at the same time, Lindsay became known for her partying. As her career rose, so did the attention she received from the tabloids. 10. She Let Partying Interfere With Her Work
Lindsay was one of the biggest party girls in Hollywood during the mid-2000s and early 2010s. In 2006, while filming Georgia Rule, she was hospitalized for what her rep called “exhaustion and overheating.” However, a letter written by James G. Robinson, CEO of Morgan Creek Productions, later claimed the hospitalization was due to partying. “We are well aware that your ongoing all-night heavy partying is the real reason for your so called ‘exhaustion’. We refuse to accept bogus excuses for your behavior,’” he stated.
9. She Was Charged With Driving Under The Influence
Lindsay has faced various legal troubles over the years, and it began in 2007 when she was charged for driving under the influence, only months after checking herself into rehab. She was “sentenced to serve one day in jail, 10 days of community service and three years of probation; to pay a fine; and to enter an alcohol education program.”
However, Lindsay only served 84 minutes of her jail sentence before being released due to overcrowding. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the only time Lindsay ended up in legal trouble for her problematic driving record.
8. Her Struggles With Addiction
Lindsay has very publicly battled with substance abuse. She’s been to rehab countless times over the years, some of which were court mandated.
In 2010, she acknowledged failing a drug test on Twitter. “Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result,” the Mean Girls actress wrote. She would enter rehab many times after the Twitter statement.
7. She Got Jail Time For Jewelry Theft
Despite having millions to her name, Lindsay has been accused of stealing designer jewelry. In 2011, she was charged to four months in jail and 300 hours of community service after stealing a gold necklace from a store in Los Angeles. The necklace was worth $2,500 USD. The incident happened three weeks after she was released from rehab.
6. She Refused To Pay Her Bills
Also in 2011, it was revealed that Lindsay was refusing to pay a $40,000 bill to the owner of a Las Vegas tanning salon, who claimed the actress racked up the lengthy charges for services rendered between 2007 to 2009.

In 2012, Lindsay was arrested again after she allegedly hit someone with her car before driving away. She was also arrested the same year after getting into an argument with a person at a club.

In 2013, a list that Lindsay had allegedly written featuring 36 men she had slept with was published by the tabloids. The list included famous faces like “Heath Ledger, James Franco, Adam Levine, Zac Efron, Justin Timberlake, Colin Farrell, Joaquin Phoenix, Wilmer Valderrama and Jamie Dornan.”
3. She Allegedly Ordered An Attack On Barron Hilton
Lindsay has long had bad blood with former friend Paris Hilton, and it may have something to do with the attack she allegedly ordered on the socialite’s younger brother, Barron. In 2013, Barron was badly beaten up by Ray LeMoine at a Miami party, and allegedly Lindsay was the one who organized the beating after hearing Barron had insulted her.
2. It Appeared She Tried To Kidnap A Child
In 2018, Lindsay posted a bizarre video to Instagram showing herself approaching a family with children, which she told the camera were Syrian refugees in need of help.
In the clip, she turned to the family and offers to take one of the children back to her hotel to watch a movie. As the tried walking away, Lindsay then attempted to grab the boy, before the child’s mother hits her to free the child. Many people online called Lindsay’s actions an attempted abduction.
1. Her Accent Caused Controversy
In recent years, Lindsay’s accent has been a source of speculation. Beginning in 2016, fans noticed that the actress was speaking differently, and now her accent seems to fluctuate. In 2019, Lindsay says her ever-changing accent is due to her world travels – she currently calls Dubai her full-time home.
“Well, I think it’s because actresses even, I think when I’m around certain dialects it changes each time — Panos even — and you just pick things up along the way,” she said.
