Legendary Tiger Woods is proposed to play the role of captain of the US golf team at the 2025 Ryder Cup, taking place at Bethpage Black’s home field.

After losing the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, going 30 years without an away win, many questions surround who will captain America for the 2025 event.

The United States will become the host of Ryder Cup 205, taking place at Bethpage Black (Bethpage State Park, Long Island, New York).

Bethpage Black has hosted major events such as the U.S. Open 2002, 2006, 2009, along with PGA Championship 2019.

Tiger Woods was the winner of Bethpage Black’s first U.S. Open. Open.

This is one of the factors that helps Woods be considered a candidate for the role of US captain at the 2025 Ryder Cup.

“We have to call Tiger Woods and ask him,” Davis Love III suggested, surprising many fans.

Davis Love III captained America in the 2012 and 2016 Ryder Cup events, both on home soil (lost in 2012, won in 2016).

The 59-year-old former golfer also served as vice-captain four times, the latest being a defeat in Rome – where Zach Johnson was captain.

“I think if Woods wants it, he deserves it. Obviously Tiger is passionate about a lot of things right now, but I would say everything is up to him to decide,” Love continued.

“I don’t like to put pressure on Woods, it depends on what you decide. Obviously, he is a reasonable choice for the next event.”

Phil Mickelson is also considered a candidate for the role of captain of the US team, but the problem is that he left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf of Saudi Arabia.

Woods participated with the American team even when injuries limited his ability to compete. The 15 major and 82 PGA Tour champion is the 2018 Ryder Cup vice captain and 2019 Presidents Cup captain.
