Steve Kerr’s wife annoyed with Warriors coach’s bedtime antics

Steve Kerr’s Golden State Warriors are struggling on the court in the 2023-24 season, and the stress of leading the team through a difficult period is affecting his wife.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed his team’s poor form is keeping him up at night. After an agonizing defeat to the Sacramento Kings in the In-Season Tournament amid a frustrating start to the 2023/24 season, Kerr tossed and turned in bed – and kept wife Margot up.

On Tuesday, the Warriors suffered a brutal 124-123 defeat to the Kings, throwing away a 24-point lead. It was a difficult result for Kerr to take, with many fans zeroing in on his substitution of the red-hot Moses Moody – instead of Klay Thompson – for Andrew Wiggins.

It has been a difficult start to the season for the Warriors. The Warriors sit 10th in the Western Conference with a 9-10 record, representing a far cry from the team that won the 2022 NBA championship.

Golden State have lost eight of their last 11 games after starting the season hot at 6-2. The franchise was not helped by Draymond Green’s suspension after he put Rudy Gobert in a chokehold – and their collapse in form has appeared to lead Kerr to sleepless nights.

“I got home from Sacramento. I’m up for a while,” Kerr told KNBR. “I’m thinking about everything. I get into bed, and [I’m] tossing and turning. It’s probably two o’clock in the morning, and Margot wakes up and goes, ‘Jesus, it’s only November. Would you just relax?’ And I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’

“And she goes, ‘All I can hear are these heavy sighs, tossing and turning. Just go to sleep.’”

Perhaps it is too early to be losing sleep, but after leading the Warriors to four championships since 2015, a losing record through almost a quarter of the season is clearly difficult for Kerr to take. With Chris Paul and Gary Payton II both limping off the court with injuries on Tuesday night, Kerr will need other stars like Moody to excel more than ever before.

This was evident on Saturday when the Warriors fell 113-112 to the LA Clippers by blowing a 22-point lead. Steph Curry led the team with 22 points while Moody and the returning Green added 21, but it wasn’t enough as the out-of-from Clippers leaned on Paul George (25 points), James Harden (21), and Kawhi Leonard to secure a crucial win.
