The Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks have made a trade that closes in 2023, exchanging two important players, Rj Barrett and OG Anunoby.

In the early morning of Sunday, December 31, an exchange deal broke out between the Toronto Raptors and the New York Knicks revolving around two talented strikers, OG Anunoby – RJ Barrett.

Details of the deal are as follows:

_ Toronto Raptors receive RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and 2nd round picks of the 2024 NBA Draft

_ New York Knicks receive OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, Malachi Flynn

Now 26 years old, OG Anunoby has been one of the most mentioned players in the transfer market over the past two years, coinciding with the decline of the Toronto Raptors.

New York has been pursuing OG Anunoby throughout the above mentioned period. Now that they have successfully recruited the 1997-born striker, the Knicks are expected to re-sign Anunoby in the summer of 2024, information confirmed by reputable journalist Adrian Wojnarowski.

Anunoby was an important member of the Toronto Raptors’ championship squad in 2019. In the 2022-23 season, he led the entire NBA in steals and made the All-NBA Defensive 2nd Team.

2019 NBA champion OG Anunoby will leave the Toronto Raptors after many years and join the New York Knicks.

Going in the opposite direction of OG Anunoby is RJ Barrett, who will be “repatriated” and play for the only NBA club in Canada. Barrett entered the NBA with the number 3 pick in Draft 2019. RJ Barrett currently has a center. Average over 18 points and 4 rebounds per game.

At the end of last summer, Barrett was in very good form at the 2023 FIBA World Cup for Canada, averaging nearly 17 points per game on the way to a historic bronze medal.

Accompanying RJ to the Toronto Raptors is Immanuel Quickley, a defender with the ability to score well when coming off the bench. The runner-up in the race for the Sixth Man of The Year title last season is having a career-high streak this season, scoring 15 points per game with 45.4% FG and 39.5% 3PT.

RJ Barrett will return to his native Canada from New York to play for the Toronto Raptors Club

This can be considered a deal that activates the mid-season transfer period in the NBA, lasting from now until the Trade Deadline on February 9, 2024.

Both the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors will continue to monitor the market for their next trade partners. The Raptors are planning to trade All-Star striker Pascal Siakam, and the Knicks are targeting another All-Star player, Dejounte Murray.
