The 15-time major and 82-time PGA Tour winner was involved in a car crash two years ago, suffering severe leg injuries, and pulled out in the third round of The Masters 2023 at the Augusta National seven months ago after experiencing “constant” pain in his right ankle.

It was his last competitive appearance before undergoing subtalar fusion surgery in May.

Woods missed the following three men’s majors to prioritise his recovery. In the meantime, he has appeared at several golf tournaments in support of his son Charlie, occasionally even acting as his caddie.

The Hero World Challenge will be held from 30 November to 3 December in Albany, Bahamas.

In addition to Woods, the line-up includes 13 players ranked in the Top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking, including world No.1 Scottie Scheffler, as well as defending champion Viktor Hovland.

The 20-player tournament benefits Woods’ TGR Foundation with Woods to act as the official host. The USA golf superstar has won the tournament five times since it was launched in 2000.
