Emma Watson and her younger brother Alex launched their gin company Renais earlier this year – he said that she’s ‘always been a big source of inspiration for me’

The 31-year-old appeared in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, though he had no speaking lines, and he modelled with his sis for Burberry

Not every one would able to work with their siblings, but brother-sister duo Emma and Alex Watson seem to be making it work.

Joining a slew of celebrities who own wine and spirits labels , the duo launched their gin brand Renais in 2023, proving that family can indeed work together if they put their head and heart into it.

In a recent interview with Hello!, Alex had nothing but good things to say about his famous sis. “Ems and I are very close,” he told the publication. “She’s always been a big source of inspiration for me, everything she’s accomplished and how she’s gone about it – I have a huge admiration for her. We’re hugely supportive of each other, mostly I try to give her reasons to laugh. I think we were both looking for a new challenge and thought we’d make a great team, and here we are.”

Emma was also recently announced as the cover star of British Vogue’s January 2024 edition. “Coming out of Covid, I really understood the importance of building community, having community and investing, very intentionally, time and energy into that,” she told Vogue, referring to the joint venture with her brother.

Like his sister, Alex, 31, has pursued the acting route – though perhaps not to the same level of fame as Em. Per People, he starred in a campaign with his sister for Burberry’s spring 2010 collection. He spoke about his modelling career to The Independent, saying, “I never thought I’d have the potential to do anything like that or thought about myself in that way. So it is pretty surprising.”

He also stated to the Financial Times, “I was being pushed towards modelling or acting.”

Earlier this year, Emma and Alex unleashed their sustainable gin company, naming it Renais, which means “rebirth” in French.

Per the brand’s Instagram post, it is a “luxury, modern gin … inspired by terroir and tradition”. It added that the Watson family has 30 years of history in winemaking.

Renais is distilled from upcycling French wine-pressed grapes, with some of it being sourced from the Watson family vineyard.
