That was the case for Emma Watson as well, who was a recurring guest on the Late Show. However, one interview in particular takes a turn after Letterman mentions a certain wardrobe malfunction that had just taken place for the Harry Potter star. We’re not exactly sure if a pre-interview took place between Emma Watson and David Letterman as the Harry Potter star appeared to be caught off-guard by a certain picture shown by the Late Show host during her appearance.

Letterman showed Emma Watson a photo of her wardrobe malfunction and, according to Best Life, the actress was embarrassed by the reveal. The photo shows her dress completely ripped down the middle.

Dave asks, “Now, tell us what’s going on here.” Watson takes a moment and is clearly embarrassed. She responds, “Um, this was a small wardrobe malfunction. At least I’m wearing underwear.” She continues, “I’m still learning.”

Watson wasn’t too bothered by the moment as she had been a regular on the show over the years. However, she had other disturbing photos go public in the past. One of the photos took place after she had just turned 18.

Back in 2016, Watson opened up about a disturbing event that took place when she was 18. Emma was speaking for the United Nations initiative, HeForShe. The actress recalled a moment that was all over the headlines due to the paparazzi crossing the line.

“I remember on my 18th birthday I came out of my birthday party and photographers laid down on the pavement and took photographs up my skirt, which were then published on the front of the English tabloid [newspapers] the next morning,” she said.

Watson continues, “If they had published the photographs 24 hours earlier they would have been illegal, but because I had just turned 18, they were legal.”

Led Zeppelin kept things brief discussing Elvis alongside David Letterman, but they let quite the detail slip about his entourage.

A tough reality for Watson dealing with such photos going viral. She had other malfunctions throughout the years that were also leaked online. All of this pressure in dealing with fame, mixed in with feeling like she was ‘caged’ in by Hollywood, would lead to Watson leaving the industry nowadays and taking a break.

Doing PR work is part of the game. However, when it came to do the press tour for Watson’s film at the time, The Little Women, the actress refused and did not attend. Following her time in the film, Watson decided to take a break from Hollywood, and she hasn’t returned since.

Creatively, the actress felt like it was time to step aside. It turned out to be the one film she did not want to promote.

“I wasn’t very happy, if I’m being honest. I think I felt a bit caged. The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over.”

Watson continues, “To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say, ‘How does this align with your viewpoint?’ It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process.”

For Watson, it came to a point that she only wanted to be involved in projects she truly believed in.

“And I started to realize that I only wanted to stand in front of things where if someone was going to give me flak about it, I could say, in a way that didn’t make me hate myself, ‘Yes, I screwed up, it was my decision, I should have done better,’” she said.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Watson, but clearly, at the moment, she is content with her circumstances.
