Miley Cyrus remains unfazed by the controversial nature of her stage performances and chooses not to apologize for them.

E! reports that Miley Cyrus is standing up against a government organization’s ban on her first-ever concert in Santo Domingo, scheduled for September 13. The 21-year-old singer is not accepting the decision and is fighting back.

Reports state that the promoter of the Dominican Republic tour has taken legal action to lift the performance ban. The challenge claims that the ban is a violation of freedom of expression. An anonymous source shared that Miley Cyrus is dedicated to advocating for artistic freedom for all creatives.

According to an official statement from the CNEPR, Miley Cyrus’s shows violate the morals and customs of the Dominican Republic, making them illegal. The announcement was reported by local newspaper Hoy on Thursday. A survey conducted by the newspaper found that 64% of people supported the ban, while others viewed it as a restriction on freedom of speech.

Back in June, there was a lot of excitement surrounding the Santo Domingo concert, which was eagerly awaited and even advertised as amazing on a tourism website for the Dominican Republic. This announcement came four months into Cyrus’ Bangerz tour, and she’s currently traveling through South America, Australia, and New Zealand. Cyrus’ next performance is set for Sept. 11 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
