Coming soon: Miley Cyrus is headlining a highly-anticipated concert special in celebration of Pride Month, which will be streamed exclusively on Peacock this Friday

Miley has long been an advocate and spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ community, and has herself been linked to women as well as men over the course of her romantic history.

She admitted that there are even still laws in place ‘here in [her] home state’ of Tennessee, where the special was filmed, that deprive those in the LGBTQ+ community of basic human rights and freedoms.

‘We can’t stop and we won’t stop doing everything in our power to create the changes we want to see not just here but AROUND THE WORLD!

‘You’ve gotta start somewhere! So I’ve begun in Nashville , TN @theryman for my #mileypridespecial special coming to @peacocktv June 25th!’ concluded the Hannah Montana alum.

Cyrus chose to share a touching video from the concert taping that showed her listening to fans from backstage as they sang her song We Can’t Stop acapella.

Moved by the gesture, the Wrecking Ball songstress ran back out on stage and grabbed her microphone to sing along with them.

Miley looked exquisite in a black floor-length gown with ostrich feathers lining the bust.

She wore her bleach blonde mullet in its natural wave pattern and amplified her good lucks with a bold red lip and glittery eyeshadow.

Cyrus’ Pride special is part of a major deal that she signed with NBCUniversal, as originally reported by Deadline in May.

The overall talent and development deal, with NBCUniversal Television as well as the streaming Peacock platform, includes the one-hour Pride concert special.

Major: Cyrus’ Pride special is part of a major deal that she signed with NBCUniversal, as originally reported by Deadline in May

Filmed in Nashville, Tennessee and airing exclusively on Peacock, Stand By You is the first of three specials that figure in the deal.

In terms of the specifics of the NBCU agreement, it includes a first-look deal between the media giant’s television and streaming departments, Miley‘s own production company, and that of Miley’s mom Tish Cyrus titled Hopetown Entertainment.

The deal is meant to develop potential scripted as well as unscripted projects to air on NBC, Bravo, E! and Peacock.

‘I have had an incredible long-lasting relationship with NBC for years. Many memorable moments in my career have been shared and supported by NBCU,’ Miley said in a statement to Deadline.

‘This feels like a natural progression and I am looking forward to creating content that we love and hope everyone who watches does too. We’re starting this journey together with a Pride special on Peacock to celebrate a month we both want to highlight with this concert event,’ she added.

‘Miley is the true definition of a multi-hyphenate superstar and her Pride special, Stand By You for Peacock, is the perfect way to kick off this incredible partnership,’ NBCUniversal’s Susan Rovner said in a separate statement.

The specifics of the agreement: It includes a first-look deal between NBCU, Miley‘s own production company, and that of her mom Tish Cyrus titled Hopetown Entertainment

‘The creative possibilities for Miley across our portfolio are literally endless and we can’t wait to collaborate on amazing projects across genres with her, Tish Cyrus’s Hopetown Entertainment and Adam Leber for Rebel.’

There is no word as to whether Stand By You refers to a new unreleased track from the Wrecking Ball singer, but it would be unsurprising if it’s in fact a reference to The Pretenders’ hit ballad I’ll Stand By You from 1994.

Miley has recently channeled the style and covered the hits of many iconic female rockers in the tradition of Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde, including Debbie Harry and Dolores O’Riordan.

‘We’re starting this journey together with a Pride special on Peacock to celebrate a month we both want to highlight with this concert event,’ Miley said of the deal
