Nick Carter has broken his silence over the death of his sister Bobbie Jean’s – writing that he is ‘completely heartbroken’ in emotional tribute on Instagram.
Bobbie Jean was found dead in her Florida home aged 41 last month – just a year after their brother Aaron Carter tragically passed away.
Her cause of death is yet to have been confirmed.
‘It may take a lifetime to fully process the loss my family has endured over the years – most recently, with the sudden passing of our sister Bobbie Jean,’ the Backstreet Boys star wrote on Thursday.
He also shared a vintage throwback picture of himself and with Bobbie Jean playing as children.
Nick added: ‘I am completely heartbroken. Thank you for all your love and kind words,. We are reminded again that life is precious, fleeting and to cherish the time we have with the ones we love. I know she is finally at peace with God. I love you BJ.’
His sister was found in her Florida home on December 23rd, according to TMZ.
Bobbie Jean — or BJ, as she was known to her family — is the third Carter sibling to meet an early death.
Aaron died on November 5, 2022, at the age of 34. He was determined to have drowned after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam, the generic version of Xanax.
A decade earlier in 2012, Leslie Carter died at 25 due to a toxic combination of prescription medications.
Aaron’s team exclusively told DailyMail.com that it’s been a year of ‘such loss and tragedy’ for the family, adding, ‘We know Aaron is in heaven with his sisters and reunited.’
‘On behalf of beloved Aaron Carter, his team sends condolences to his servings siblings, mother and extended family,’ the statement read.
‘This year has definitely been one with such loss and tragedy. May you be filled with love and comfort from supporting fans and friends through this tough time. You are not alone. We know Aaron is in heaven with his sisters and reunited. May they rest in peace.’
TMZ obtained a statement from Jane Cater in which she poured her heart out after losing her third child.
‘I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time,’ she began.
‘When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private.’
She added: ‘[H]owever deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater.
‘So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious eight year old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother.’
Bobbie Jean had a history of substance abuse and addiction throughout her life and had a history of arrests including one as recently as earlier this year.
In June she was arrested and booked for possession of fentanyl after being caught stealing $55 worth of crafts from a Hobby Lobby in Florida.
When she was brought into the craft store’s office so management could call the police, she panicked, reached into her purse and tossed a light blue vial under the desk.
Bobbie Jean was featured on the E! reality TV show House of Carters.
She appeared in all eight episodes of the show which focused on Nick Carter and his four full siblings as he and the Backstreet Boys worked on the band’s sixth studio album Unbreakable.
In the series, the siblings all tried to revive their careers and bond as family.
The series ran for one season in 2006 and since that time, Bobbie Jean has avoided the public eye.
