Fact Check

NEW YORK: There is no evidence singer Taylor Swift announced her retirement in July, as suggested online.  A social media post from July 2024 reads, “Taylor Swift Announces END of Music Career After Eras Tour: ‘I’m Planning to Settle Down and Start a Family Soon,’” and includes a cropped photo of Swift taken at Wembley Stadium during her Eras Tour in London.

Some comments on the post appear to take it seriously, with users expressing happiness and support for Swift’s supposed decision. However, there is no record of Swift making such an announcement this month. The rumor seems to have originated from a headline on the website Celebrity Glee, but the article itself does not mention any retirement announcement from Swift.

No credible news sources or official announcements on Swift’s website, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or X accounts have reported an end to her music career.

Swift’s publicist, Tree Paine, has not responded to requests for comment. Swift’s billion-dollar Eras Tour, which includes 152 shows across five continents, began in March 2023 and is scheduled to conclude in December 2024.

VERDICT
