After being eliminated early in the first round of the playoffs by the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Clippers have made some changes to their roster to improve their performance in the upcoming season. However, the team faces concerns as their star forward Kawhi Leonard has been removed from Team USA due to a calf injury.

Fans are worried about the impact of Leonard’s injury on the next NBA season and how it will affect the Clippers’ performance. Meanwhile, as the team is in a rebuilding phase, recent reports by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype suggest that the Clippers are looking to fill gaps in the team by making some trades.

According to Scotto, in order to re-sign their star player James Harden and add Kevin Porter Jr. in free agency, the Clippers may trade Bones Hyland to fulfill these requirements. Scotto also mentioned that the Clippers are reportedly planning to acquire Utah Jazz guard Kris Dunn via a sign-and-trade deal.

“The Clippers can dangle some combination of the expiring contracts of PJ Tucker and Russell Westbrook and could offer draft pick compensation or Bones Hyland to the Washington Wizards for helping to facilitate a potential sign-and-trade trade. With the Clippers re-signing James Harden, adding Kevin Porter Jr. in free agency, and reportedly in line to acquire Kris Dunn via a sign-and-trade, [Bones Hyland] could potentially become expendable.” Scotto wrote in his latest reports.

Scotto also mentioned that the Clippers are looking to acquire a Washington Wizards point guard Tyus Jones.

Tyus Jones, HoopsHype’s top free agent on the board, is continuing to receive interest as a sign-and-trade candidate from several teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto added.

According to StatMuse, Jones averaged 12.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 7.3 assists in 66 games for the Wizards in the 2023-24 season.

The Clippers recently lost another star player due to contract negotiations. Paul George, also known as PG-13, was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. After the trade, he revealed how contract negotiations with the Clippers affected his decision to leave the franchise.
